3. It takes 12 people to find someone guilty of a abortion law. Period.

I think on this topic it might be hard to find 12 people to find someone guilty.

...if they support the recriminalization of abortion. Anyone who indicates otherwise will be excused from the jury.

Isn't the US justice system grand.

No wonder you get plea deals once a jury is seated.

5. Good point. Plus, I'm sure some states will aggressively prosecute violations, others will not

because of difficulty getting a conviction. More likely to prosecute providers.

But, no one should have to fear prosecution or what a state might do to them down the road.

results in significant restriction of reproductive freedom. You only need one convictiion if you are a provider to ruin your life and the cost to defend yourself also needs to be paid (this includes lost wages from being incarcerated prior to trial). Most providers will abandon their practice under those conditions (it has already happened under the less severe but still costly legislation that has already been passed).

13. This is already affecting the quality of doctors who will work in those states.

Think of the GYN doc who they were talking about earlier. I think he wrote an op ed or something. He wouldn't think of practicing in a state which he thinks he will be hounded every time he sees a patient. The medical schools in the state will not be giving adequate training to residents because residents have to have performed X amount of each procedure (like D & C, etc.) before the doc can take their boards. What kind of medical school can't have a decent GYN training program? Quality of medical care is going to go downhill. Hell, even wealthy women will want to go to a hospital in another state if they suspect the doc is less than adequate. We are entering crazy territory here. The Federalist Society thinks they won but they are killing the country in the process.

and not around Washington, DC.

Great point about GYN doc. My experience with red state doctors with my mom and dad hasn't given me much confidence. The one in Louisiana is responsible for not catching my dad's cancer in time (useless f__g exams - he got paid but what the hell was he doing).

For something that nobody else has any right whatsoever to have an opinion about.

Your two words don't really help.

10. That is not how the restrictions would happen.

It would be with permitting and licensing. Any business, and yes abortion providers are a business, has to have a business license. They also have to have permits to start/continue a business in various areas. If these licenses are not allowed because of the law then there would be no providers in a particular area.

In addition banks could not provide financial services to providers if they were illegal. That has been the problem with MJ dispensaries who are unable to open accounts at banks because even though MJ may be legal in the location it is still illegal at the federal level.
