We started planning this excursion back in March. We made final payments in August. It is my sons and my first cruise ever. My Husband's second. The day of the Cruise we were given the option to leave because Sandy was coming.
I had obligations on the cruise. I am a Zumba instructor. And I agreed to teach zumba on the Cruise as part of a fundraiser for Breast Cancer research.
We had a family meeting and we all agreed we wanted to stay.
The Ship was no longer going to Bermuda. we were going to sail out into the wild blue yonder, and then come back home one thursday.
The captain decided with permission from the coast guard to turn around after a day of sailing and drop anchor in the chesapeake bay. I am happy to report we are safe and the ship is steady, no rocking at all.
I am so thankful for this Captain and the Crew of this ship for keeping everyone safe.
I pray for the safety of everyone in Sandy's path.

(11,795 posts)I've never taken a cruise, but I would've been a nervous wreck! Happy to hear you're okay!

(8,084 posts)Teaching a zumba a class on the first day was a bit of a challenge. The water level has risen 9 ft. And it's raging outside, but it's very calm on the ship
