(54,014 posts)I really think the simpler explanation holds true here. Christie is a problem solver and he's probably a little happier back-handing the nitwits who scamper about the Republican Party like so many cockroaches in a rotten house. He's got real government-specific problems to manage right now and is grateful that there's no Brownies in the administration do heckuva jobs.
Of course, there's also the possibility that Christie's softening his image for a run in 2016.

nah. You're right. He's looking for a buddy.
But as someone said earlier, I'll take it.
If he can help in his own way get Obama elected...great! He can spend the next four years on Jenny Craig and get ready for a 2016 run. (Elizabeth Warren will beat him anyway...no prob!)
He shan't have a chance against Hillary, though.

(41 posts)you "get" that he knows which side of his bread is slathered in butter.
1. He's not putting all his eggs in the Mitt basket.
2. He sees the writing on the wall.
and....
drumroll...
3. He's running in 2016
If he was smart, and I think he is, CC will start publicly embracing his struggle with weight. By the time 2016 rolls around, he'll be slimmer and the American loves to root for somebody working on their weight issues. Goodness knows, a great many of us (me included) would completely connect with him. He'd be a true force to reckon with -- a regular guy repub.

(36,437 posts)Bank that.
He might as well announce his candidacy this morning. He's all but doing that on all the mornin g shows.
Romney's people must be fucking livid!
Or, they must be dusting off their resumes to send to Christie 2016.
The real stab thrust is for Paul Ryan. Christie is essentially saying "Listen, I'm not one of these wackadoo fanatics like Paul Ryan. I can work with Dems, I'm socially moderate, and I'll stick it to the extreme of my party in a heartbeat if it gets shit done."
Ryan is hopping mad somewhere right now.

(41 posts)I mean, don't get me wrong, I do NOT like CC.
But he's great at getting attention and he's getting more right now than R/R.
When Ryan loses, it will be reallllllly hard to get the Mitt Stink off him.
And CC will emerge as clean as a whistle.
If they were to run Christie and Bloomberg. Oy.
We will really really need Hilary in '16 no matter what she says now.

(36,221 posts)I don't give a shit to hear about every single time joe scarborough scratches his ass.
No video, simple one liners, no substance. Boring posts, over and over and over and over, there must be 6-10 on the front page of GD.
Just OMG JOE JOE JOE JOE JOE, DID YOU SEE, DID YOU HEAR... Well no and the DU one liner posts don't give much information. It's just lazy!
I could give two craps about joe or his take on shit. Hardly anyone watches his stupid show. He isn't important.
Someone wants to write more than one liners that mean nothing to people who aren't watching that garbage, bring it on, I'll be interested and want to read.

(8,377 posts)Republicans all despise Romney. They hate his guts. They all have been holding their noses, but I guess Christie just couldn't make it to next Tuesday.
Christie probably would have endorsed Obama if there had been any way for him to pull it off. I guess he sees this as his opportunity.
The political calculation is simple. If Romney wins, then Romney will likely be the GOP candidate in 2016, and realistically Christie will be off the scene by 2020, if not off the planet altogether. So he really has nothing to lose. His state is voting for Obama anyway, so he isn't really hurting his party much.

(3,747 posts)how he killed Lori Klaustisus. Did he knock her down in a rage? Did he hit her with a blunt object? Did he watch her die? Did he run out of the room so he wouldn't have to watch her die? Who did he pay off to keep this from going to court?...these questions make it hard to hear what he is blathering about in the moment.

(15,412 posts)or is this the left's "Clinton had people murdered" BS?
NCGardenGirl
(53 posts)... from what I've read, he was out of town when she was found. Joe was divorced at the time and was remarried the following October, which makes me skeptical of the rumors that they were having an affair. Sounds like there are legitimate concerns about the medical examiner, but nothing of substance concerning Joe.
I just do not care for the way he treats the guests on his program. Mika must make a whole lot of $ to put up with his boorish behavior.

Didn't see anything in the article that said Joe Scar killed someone.
NCGardenGirl
(53 posts)...my earlier response said that I couldn't find any info that would implicate Joe. The ME sounds like a weirdo, but the links I saw regarding Joe were very partisan. Joe wasn't married at the time, so I don't really get how the articles can accuse him of an affair. It does sound like she was married.
