I'm from the Mid-Atlantic region and I have this to say

Not keen on hurricanes, the south can keep them down south and we'll keep the blizzards and Nor-easters up here.

However, it was good to have responsible people in the White House although planning for these events start at the state and local level so kudos to Mayor James Baker (Wilmington, DE) and Governor Jack Markell.

I cannot imagine having to go thru these and have some idiot in the White House who cares more about anything else other than the fact that millions upon millions of people are facing some serious problems brought about by Mother Nature.

I don't know how we survived 8 years with Bush and I know alot of people in the south suffered greatly because of his inability to even care about these hurricanes making landfall. But I do know this - I don't want to go back there ever again.

We need to move forward and we need to do that with Barack Obama!!

this week.
It should be obvious to all that Obama is the superior candidate and that we would be screwed if Romney had been in charge when this storm hit but many have their heads shoved too far up their behinds to see the light.
I hope that you and others who are dealing with the storm and its aftermath will share that observation with the local news and television stations.

and thus Federal Aid to help clean up their state after the hurricane hits would actually vote for a guy that wants to do away with FEMA.

It's like standing on the front line of gun fire and saying we should fire the people that make our bulletproof vests.

After what we went through with Katrina, they should be breaking down the door to vote for Obama.

and went through Fran and Floyd.... omg were we glad to have FEMA and Clinton to help the state get back on their feet.

I don't understand how anyone votes against their own best interest. I am convinced that race is playing a factor. It's easy to make people afraid when you begin playing voodoo with religion - throw in a black dude with an odd name and boom goes the common sense.

Guns (don't want the government taking it away)
God (see above)
Gays (swears the government is going to make them all be Gay)

It's a stupidity mindset.

but people are so visual....

ten years ago I told many Republican friends that their party was halving. That traditional gop policies worshiped money, and that the new gop worshiped some god. (wasn't mine then or now) I told them you can't serve 2 masters. they laughed at me....

Plus I did tell them that it seemed like they needed to hate and that hated black people was slowly being replaced by hated gays. Of course they scoffed at me, but darned if I wasn't right. But I think the old south prejudice against blacks will only erase itself as people die off. Younger people by and large are more liberal.

in all honestly, biblically, we are supposed to love one another as we love ourselves, and I just don't think these idiots love or respect themselves!

Ignorance, pure ignorance. I know people like this. It is absolutely impossible to have a discussion with any of them based on facts. It simply can not be done.

anyone that went through Katrina would ever contemplate voting for Mitt "get rid of FEMA" Romney. It was pure hell here. Bush implemented policies that made it HARDER for us to recover, instead of helping.

This storm could have been far more dangerous and catastrophic. That last minute speed up of the storm really helped avert a great deal of damage I think.

Now to get the everything cleaned up and the power on so we can all vote without major issues.

I lived in the south and officially now in the MidAtlantic, as you do, and I have to say that we'd really be fucked with another Bush or WORSE.
