As Republican U.S. Rep. Judy Biggert and Democratic challenger Bill Foster clash on a wide array of issues, their differences on immigration loom as a potential difference-maker in a campaign for a seat representing the west and southwest suburbs.
Foster is appearing Tuesday with Democratic U.S. Rep. Luis Gutierrez, the state's highest-ranking Latino politician, at an early voting event in Aurora. Most prominently, Foster is highlighting his support of a controversial piece of legislation two years ago.
"I voted for the DREAM Act, and it was one of my proudest votes in Congress," Foster has said repeatedly during the campaign.
It's a statement that always comes in tandem with Foster pointing out that Biggert voted against the DREAM Act, which would provide a path to citizenship for undocumented immigrants brought to the U.S. as children.

I don't know what the polls show on this race, but the suburbs of Chicago are usually quite republican, aren't they?
