Related: Editorials & Other Articles, Issue Forums, Alliance Forums, Region ForumsApologies if I missed this, but anybody know what happened to Keith Olbermann on Current?
David Shuster has filled in for him all week - I think. Tonight, there was neither an announcement about "filling in for the vacationing Keith Olbermann" at the start, nor an announcement at the end when he signed off - "I'm David Shuster, Keith Olbermann will be back on Monday" or anything in between.
Tried googling about it and the newest stuff is a year old.
Thank you in advance.

(2,627 posts)Seems like every time we hear from Keith these days, things aren't going well!
Yesterday, Keith Olbermann released a statement in which he made it VERY clear that he's pissed at his network Current TV over GOP Primary/Caucus coverage!
Here's what he had to say about it:
"I was not given a legitimate opportunity to host under acceptable conditions. They know it and we know it. Telling half the story is wrong."
And here's what Current TV president David Bohrman had to say about it in a memo released to the Countdown staff:
" As we assumed Keith had communicated to you, Keith was asked to be the sole anchor and executive producer of our primary and caucus coverage. He declined."
" We tried several times to have Keith participate in our coverage, including being the lead anchor for the 8p hour tonight, incorporated with our election group in the Los Angeles studio and produced in the LA control room. We have a special election graphic package, live remotes, caucus feeds, etc."

(19,736 posts)He now has control over all their election coverage. Saw it on HuffPo or Twitter or something. I can't remember. It's all repaired and they're back on track...for now.

But where is the set?
I just modified my cable service to get Current and all I have seen from KO is him with a black BG!!!???
For those of us in Show Biz a set is a signifigent investment. So where is it???
Does not bode well.

(81,550 posts)I have noticed better advertisers. Dodge, I think, and Warner Brothers Pictures.
Damn. I hope it survives!

(22,457 posts)get along with ESPN, MSNBC and now current TV.
Most people have to work for someone, Keith is no different.
Unless Keith starts his own network I think he will always have issues.

(9,699 posts)I think he said "I'm David Schuster filling in for Keith Olbermann."
It's possible some stations might have cut it for commercial purposes.

(8,159 posts)I don't give a shit if he is hard to deal with. I love the show. Yes Current does not have the nice set, many times during the show there are screw ups done by staff but I am willing to overlook it all. Keith seems to put up with all the problems on his set at Current, maybe this was just being pushed to far.

(4,667 posts)He single handedly saved MSNBC. And was the lone guiding principle to the idea that more than just right wing propaganda could get ratings. He went against the stream when nobody else had the guts to actually tell the truth about what was going on with our politics.
However.... why can't this guy get along with anybody? Clearly something is wrong behind the scenes that none of us knows about. He seems to burn a lot of bridges.
I guess sometimes genius people can be difficult to work with.
