I bit the bullet and voted in the Arkansas Rethuglican primary.

Arkansas has an open primary and the only election was on the Rethuglican primary. I had a list of people to vote against, starting with Sara (Smokey Eyes) Huckabee Sanders for Governor.

When asked what ballot I wanted I muttered "Republican, God help me." The worker laughed an gave me the ballot.

In Arkansas, the primaries are completely open and we can vote in either primary. TomSlick May 2022 #2

Early voting today, I was number 871 at that location.

I'm registered as a UNA, unaffiliated is what it's called here, so I can vote in either primary.

I was voting against cawthorn, and chuck Edwards for Congress, and against a few for Senate.

There are 7 other races in the local GOPQ primary, and the winners will run unopposed in November, so the primary is the only way to have a voice in this red zone.

Dems are not running candidates for any of them; every few years they try but only get 40%, so then they don't usually have many challengers to these local races.
Still, I'm disappointed there weren't any Dems running for the 4 judicial slots, which includes a state supreme court;or county DA, state legislature rep, county board of commissioner seat.

I voted in their primary several years ago to vote out the sheriff, who had a challenger in their primary. The challenger won, 7,000 to 5,000, and therefore won the election 6 months later because he ran unopposed.

I hope we both have an impact. It was very unpleasant reading through the candidates profiles and statements to figure out who to vote for, but it helped rule a lot out. I had to read "my philosophy best aligns with Alito" and "I'm an America first candidate" and "I'm a conservative Christian" and a few others I've forgotten, having rejected them immediately.

We are warriors!
Looking forward to a Blue Wave in November!

I've never voted in the Rethuglican primary before but all the local races were in the GQP primary. Besides, I had to vote against Sarah. In the other state-wide elections, I voted for the least crazy of the options.

Are you a member of the Arkansas group? You should post this there to alert them.
I posted in the NC group that I was going to vote in the GOPQ primary, complaining about having to review conservative candidates to find the least objectionable, got support, suggestions.

I think it's great that you can vote in either primary, as a Democrat. Several states allow that. I'm independent, or unaffiliated so I can do that here in NC. But I'm a Democrat, underground.
And I always vote, always vote blue. (Except for the occasional GOPQ primary, to hopefully mess with them!)

I even registered republican just so I could vote against Nixon in the primary. No open primary back then.
