I am concerned about how Sandy will effect the elections

With power out and transportation down in large areas of the Northeast, and no expectations of things being back to normal by next Tues. I worry about the election. We have no way of knowing what this will do to voter turn our. How it will slow down the voting process and who it will affect most. Maybe these states will still go for Obama, but there are some close Senator and Congressional races that could be changed.
I think it could be a factor.

It shouldn't at all. The storm made landfall early enough to dissipate by next Tuesday. HopeHoops Oct 2012 #10

where it will affect turnout. And though I am sure the polls will be open, it might become more cumbersome to vote.
Do you think that districts without power will be able to get enough paper ballots in time?
I don't think my concern is unwarranted.

But given Romnesia's take on FEMA and Governor Christie's praise of the president's handling of the situation, it'll actually help us pick up a few votes in places like NC and FL, where hurricanes make FEMA relevant to the electorate.

If Florida is close, a reminder like this could help us there. We should have ads up over the weekend attacking Zomney for his stance on FEMA. There will be little to no time for him to respond before the election.

This might hurt in some isolated areas but overall it could be a plus. I hate trying to make political points when 29 people are confirmed dead already, and that number is likely to rise. Unfortunately the reality exists. People need to know that there is more at stake than the recovery going slower than we would like.

Edit to add: the same thing goes for NC as for FL.

We have to deal with it as best as we can and things appear to be worse elsewhere. Perhaps I got lucky by having it head directly toward me, but I'll have to wait until the other side comes through to tell - and it looks far more destructive on the radar maps.
