As a result of either desperation or just increased media access, Christian conservatives seem to be sinking to a new level of spiritual warfare to achieve their desired result in the election. Insensitive chicken-lover Mike Huckabee is the latest political talking ahead to threaten voters very souls if they do not make the right choice at the polls this year. In his new video, Huckabee warns Americans that their vote has to to withstand the test of fire when it comes to issues like abortion, contraception, and marriage equality.HUCKABEE: Many issues are at stake, but some issues are not negotiable: The right to life from conception to natural death. Marriage should be reinforced, not redefined. It is an egregious violation of our cherished principle of religious liberty for the government to force the Church to buy the kind of insurance that leads to the taking of innocent human life.
Your vote will affect the future and be recorded in eternity. Will you vote the values that will stand the test of fire? This is Mike Huckabee asking you to join me November 6th and vote based on values that will stand the test of fire.

(13,485 posts)The Christian religious extremists, the fundamentals, those who want a theocracy, are not a fantasy. They are for real, and they are just as nuts as they've been made out to be. Here's a prime example.

I hate this manipulative squirmy little bastard with every fiber of my being. He is an evil, vile little demon . May his soul rot as the little fucker prospers until he is a dried up soulless husk.

(26,219 posts)Its the wedge issue they NEED in order to get their base to the polls to enact Ayn Randian policies. Take abortion out of the mix, and people might wake the fuck up and pay attention for a change.

(13,227 posts)We have a winner!
The GOP has had many chances to abolish abortion, but without it they lose their top wedge issue. Because flag burning isn't even close.
Ruby the Liberal
(26,219 posts)Phrased it something like - You voted for Bush twice for this very reason, he had a GOP congress and senate for 6 years - and what was the result of that? They will never do a damn thing to abolish abortion because they know thats how they get people to the polls.
Suffice to say, they were pissed (at me), but really didn't have a response.
