I just found out a friend's home burned down to the ground during the

storm in NY last night; woman in her 80s, lost her husband of decades a year ago to cancer. I'm just so sad; all those memories up in smoke. I am friends with her 'kids', our parents have/had been life-long friends. Hug your loved ones, and be thankful for what you do have, my friends. Power will be restored, flood waters will recede, life will go on. And so too for this woman; she has a strong family, is so very loved, but it's just such a shock. Thank God she left and went to a friend's home.

Glad she got out in time and is safe but those memories of pics and sentiments are hard to lose.

We had a tsunami warning on Sat night here in Hawai'i(from the earthquake in Canada) and there was a time period when I thought about eveything being washed away and it's sad. That's why I had my laptop as part of my overnight bag. But, with a fire you don't have that luxury.
