shooters family speaks

The mother of the sick school shooter who shot dead 19 children and two teachers in Texas has claimed he 'wasn't a violent person'.

Adriana Reyes said she was 'surprised' Salvador Ramos opened fire in a horrific killing spree at Robb Elementary School in Uvalde yesterday.

She admitted her son was a loner who 'kept to himself and didn't have many friends' but shot down reports she had a toxic relationship with him.

In an exclusive interview with DailyMail.com she did not address claims she was a drug addict who saw the boy ditch her and go to live with his grandmother Celia Gonzalez.

Reyes was speaking from the bedside of Gonzalez, 66, as she recovers from being blasted in the face by her vile grandson before he went on a rampage and shot dead 19 children and two teachers.

He had bought two AR-15 assault rifles, bragged about them on social media and suggested he would commit an atrocity before the deadly attack.

But earlier today Ramos' grandfather revealed the family had no idea he legally purchased the two weapons last week.

Rolando Reyes, 74, Gonzalez's husband, also claimed his grandson had been a quiet teenager who spent most of his time alone in his room.

Rolando Reyes, 74, says he had no idea his grandson bought two AR-15s last week. Salvador Ramos bought the guns last week a day after celebrating his 18th birthday with his grandmother at Applebee's

1. Losing a child or grandchild has got to be nearly unbearable, and even more so for them.

All of the parents of the children are in unspeakable pain, but these parents perhaps most of all because they are all alone in their grief, watching their son be hated instead of mourned.

6. I feel terrible for the shooter's family. This certainly isn't their fault.

These parents aren't the same as Ethan Crumbley's family who bought him a gun for his birthday despite signs of mental illness.

The Ramos Family will have to live with what their son/grandson did until they die. They have to shoulder the burden that their son/grandson snuffed out 21 lives. These people deserve all the sympathy in the world.

And I'm not taking anything away from those who were killed. But at least they will have sympathy whereas the Ramos Family likely won't.

8. SRV Played Sports

He played baseball & basketball when he was a kid.
I don't know how old he was when he gave those up, but he was pretty well rounded. They moved a lot, so he might never had a chance to settle in on anything but his guitar.
And, he began gigging at 14, & jammed onstage with ZZ Took when he was 16.
He wasn't exactly hiding in his bedroom as a teenager.
So, he wasn't a total loner & became a great guitar player anyway. Shy, yes. But, he got out & was involved with people.
Side Note: My wife & I were there at Alpine Valley to see him & Clapton the night he died.

9. Wow you saw his last show? That's both sad, and amazing ...

My point was more that if you're staying in your room getting great at something, maybe it's not so bad ... didn't know if either guy actually did so, but thought they made good examples for the concept.

I saw Bill Graham at a show at Shoreline in Mountain View very shortly before he passed in (also) a helicopter accident, but not that very night.

5. So true. Unfortunately, kids get video games and end up in their rooms

for hours on end. And, they can play with strangers which just leads to further isolation.

When my kids were young kids didn’t have cell phones until later and there was no YouTube, TikTok etc.

These things are destroying our youth.

They need to be riding bikes, playing sports and other activities.

Many families can’t afford to have their kids in a lot of activities and this is a problem, as well.

3. I'm so sorry for these people. Most of us do the best we can, but so often we fail.

Not because we are bad people or because we aren't good enough. No, we fail because we are people doing the best we can, but way too often we fail and occasionally we fail in really horrible ways. It's not just the family that failed, but the system around the family and beyond. We all failed. We all fell down on our job protecting each other and caring for the young. This is a national system failure.
And the one that happens next week or the week after will also be a national system failure.

7. They keep saying, this isn't "who we are"

If "we" means, me and you, it is probably correct to say that. but we have to admit that this is what our society has become, this is who we are as a society.
