That is why they find it so hard to believe that Biden won the election.
They saw the huge rallies. They saw the adoring audiences. They were part of the circus.
It looked like the entire country was supportive of the arrogant and loud-mouth autocrat. How could he lose to Joe Biden?
But he did. The cult could not believe that so many Americans disagreed with them. And Trump was able to persuade them that they were right. There was no way he could lose to Joe Biden. If he lost to Joe Biden, he would leave the country, he said.
That was how the Big Lie spread. They wanted to believe. They had no evidence, just what they saw at the circus.

(1,896 posts)They only watch "news" that they agree with. They only hang around with people they agree with. They generally live in rural areas where they don't understand the concept of population density-so if everyone around them thinks like they do they can't grasp that their entire town has less votes than a single voting district in a more populous area. The kind of people who look at a voting map and say "ooh, look at all the red" not understanding (and I won't even use a big city to demonstrate this) that a single county like Montgomery in MD or Bergen in NJ or Montgomery in PA have more people than entire states like WY, ND or SD. It's beyond their comprehension. (like so many other things)

(714 posts)In the 2016 election cycle, I talked til I was blue in the face trying to explain to people how that rallies work: all the people within driving distance of the event site can come.
"Driving distance", anywhere outside of Alaska and Hawaii, includes the population of several states.
So getting 20,000 to come see a TV celebrity, for free, out of a population of millions isn't a huge feat.
Additionally, the Trump campaign was notorious at the time for handing out several times more tickets than the event venue could actually seat. So many of the people who'd travelled hundreds of miles, with a ticket in hand, couldn't even get inside to watch the event.
That's a terrible way to treat your "supporters" and credible candidates who care about people don't do such things (i.e. everyone else who's ever run). But I guess celebrities can get away with treating people like dirt and be loved for it.
People showing up to see a TV personality doesn't mean that the TV personality is widely popular or wildly popular. I showed up to a grocery store one time to get my picture taken with a guy wearing a Chester Cheetah costume (the mascot for Cheetos).
But that doesn't mean that I'd vote for the guy...or even that I eat Cheetos.

1) He DID unite the country. The country being white, non liberal people. He did that very well. They don't care, in fact they have absolute hatred, for POC and those of us who are traitors to the race - and in their minds we don't count relative who deserves to be here. What we think does not count to them at all.
2) They know Biden won. Either completely or deep down inside. They know they game that is being played, that they are part of a slow moving chrisofacist authoritarian coup of the United States of America. The "big lie" is part of the game they know the have to play to win the game.

He united the uneducated, mouth breathing, non political sports fans into an electorate block easily manipulated and duped.
We don't elect anyone by rally.
Rallies are not even mentioned in COnstitution they never read. Limbaugh infected sports radio, and turned politics into bloodsport.
They were semi literate, proudly ignorant (m)asses united in hatred of non-male, non-white, educated, literate, non-Pauline CHristains.
