My wife just read this to me from Twitter

(54,003 posts)They love and worship greed and power. I'd call it materialistic nihilism. It's still a god, in the sense that it is a transcendent principle that helps them impose a moral order into their universe, and which they can anthropomorphize. But it's just not a god of love and redemption like traditional Christian religion strives to please.
Also, instead of Jesus, this god sent Rupert Murdoch down to earth

(27,814 posts)... never line-up with Republican policies?
When was the last time the GOP fought for feeding the hungry, sheltering the homeless, caring for the sick and dying?

He's not a nice guy. The bad about him far outweighs the few good things he said.

(219 posts)It does say that it's okay to murder lots of the same people that the GQP hates. And the guy in the second part of the book says that is well and good, because that's the law, which will not go out of effect until the end of the earth.
But what do I know? I actually read it myself, rather than have a crock in a frock "instruct" me on what it was "really" saying. Those crocks in frocks wouldn't have a self-serving agenda, oh no, never.

(25,481 posts)Republicans have no choice, they must fight back and do the opposite of whatever Democrats do! This is them doing the right thing.

(10,163 posts)That said, "God is pro life." That is one of the stupidest things I've ever seen. Every person dies. Every bit of life on earth right now will be dead in less than 100 years.
How is that pro life? That is pro death. God loves death. The imaginary all powerful creator kills millions, makes millions suffer and even allows innocent children and animals to suffer horribly before they die. That is not pro-life. That's very much pro-death. Even the bible is filled with people dying. The Christian god is very much pro-death.
Pro-life would be immortality. Living forever would be a God that is pro-life. But do you see any living being that lives forever? There are a few plants that have managed to exist a very long time but even they are not predicted to live forever.
Yet the GOPers go around saying nonsensical crap and we are supposed to believe their nonsense and base our laws on these lies.

(6,228 posts)realize that we must vote in November? The polls show that trump will beat Biden in 2024 & the MAGA repubs will win big in November. This sickens me.

(10,429 posts)Never stop voting or give up.
What sickens me more is the complacency. Our elected politicians have failed to make sure we CAN vote, that our vote will be counted accurately if at all, and that republicons can't just overrule results they don't like.
I don't know how we out here can fix that.

(10,429 posts)This great "plan" that god supposedly has for each and every one of us is a pretty shitty plan for most.
And it seemingly benefits the followers of Lucifer and greed the most.
Odd, that.

(11,804 posts)...She insinuated COVID was God's response to abortions, homosexuality, crime, and a whole other host of what she considers issues. I asked her, "Have you considered the possibility that COVID is God's response to your intolerance, support of the most immoral president the country has ever seen, or for people who evangelize a prosperity gospel (They go to a 'Mega Church')?" Crickets. As practically my entire family are card-carrying members of MAGA nation, I have a unique view into how they think and why they think it. But the most important thing I have learned is they have zero ability for self-reflection. That's why Trump is such an effective communicator to this group. He says what they want to hear, and what they need to hear regardless of its basis in fact or even reality. And they eat it up.

(5,557 posts)A hands-on, micromanaging God does not reconcile well with the concept of free will. Nor does it line up with observations on the world around us.
If there is a higher power (and I believe there is), they clearly operate on a scale that we cannot comprehend. Our political problems are no more a concern to the creator than a single bad apple is to the farmer.
