Oh, wait...the IMMIGRANTS, the WIDOWS, the POOR, the "GAYS", the BLACKS, the JEWS, the HANDICAPPED, the MUSLIMS, the DEMOCRATS!

(3,360 posts)The recent court decisions will be a big factor for a lot of people this November. A clarion call to all people of good will.
I'd never suggest appropriating the idiocy of the right wing, but if ever a time was ripe to reuse their little temper tantrums of "legislating from the bench!|" "judicial activism!" this seems that time.

(33,615 posts)gas prices will trump Roe. And we know which story the media will push.
Let's see some women dying in alleyways or doctors offices due to a malignant, malformed fetus. And no abortion was available. I think that would trump someone paying a few extra dollars for gas.

(15,552 posts)Children slaughtered and decapitated in their school rooms didn't do it, then no access to abortion won't either.

Ignore me, get mad at me, or tell me to smoke a joint, I don't care.
You can take your sensitive feelings and do the same.
Telling me to STFU is what has become tiresome.

(9,035 posts)No. From you today, though, every post I see, boo hiss boo hiss. It's all fucked. Why bother?
You seem to blame the US people for things the Republicans are doing. Over 80% of this country wants some gun control, and so do Dems, but it's the GOP that keeps blocking it. But you are blaming the American people for things that the GOP is doing. It is wrong and annoying. I see it all the time.
Go ahead, spout all the negativity you want. You seem to get off on it.
Are you going to do anything to help reverse this stupid SCOTUS decision? Just sit there and moan and groan about how stupid people are? Do you think that is helpful? Do you care to be helpful?
Look, I'm sorry I jumped your shit, but I see so much of this on this board, sometimes I lash out at it.

(33,615 posts)They voted for more Republican Senators and Congresspeople and Governors and State legislators in 2020. And it's too close to call this year. Too many don't vote on the issues that really affect them.
I don't see any way to reverse this SCOTUS decision for many, many years.

(19,114 posts)Whitmer is the only thing standing between the women of our state and Gideon, the state is so jerrymandered that with a Republican Governor, they could enslave women in a split second.
VOTE!
roamer65
(36,747 posts)Yet again, the votes I cast in 2018 were the most important of my lifetime.
1. Whitmer for governor.
2. Independent redistricting commission.
3. Recreational MJ in MI.
Johnny2X2X
(19,114 posts)The Dems are unlikely to take the State House, and the State Senate is a long shot. And in Michigan, there is no fillabuster, so a simple majority passes law that a governor can sign. Without Whitmer, the loons in the state Congress would pass a law making all abortions illegal in a millisecond.

(19,114 posts)The legislature can pass laws, the Michigan Supreme Court can't rule them all against the state constitution.
Vote Dem! Now is the time we take back the states.

(5,969 posts)Repubs targetted abortion rights for decades to get people to the polls and they finally delivered. This is a major success for them. Now they need to win elections to defend the current standard.

Trump backers tweet #repealthe19th after polls show he'd win if only men voted
As polls show that Donald Trump would overwhelmingly win if only men were allowed to vote, the GOP nominee's supporters have spawned a new Twitter hashtag: #repealthe19th.
Thats a reference to the 19th Amendment, which gave women the right to vote.

If asked they would not oppose abortion but they will still vote for anti choice candidates because the issue important to them is something like crime , or opposing immigration , or opposing environmental regulation or any number of issues.
The GOP will make them afraid of some bullshit, and the media will play along.

(12,165 posts)They have asserted their dominion over women's bodies. Gay people are next.
What would stop them from overturning an election? They already flexed their power to stop a recount in Bush v. Gore.
This is a terrifying time. Everything is at stake, and yet the outcome is left in the hands of the people who will use their power as a king would.
They are religious zealots who believe themselves to be divinely inspired.

(15,290 posts)I'm going to use the Dover PA School Board as an example. These off-year, local elections usually have light turnout. Because of that creationists were able to take majority control of the board and institute creationist-centered science curriculum. That went to court where a federal judge ruled for the plantiffs who objected to the creationist curriculum. Once the voters woke up, at the next election, all the creationists on the school board were voted out and another resigned.
Now that Americans, particularly women have been awakened, I think they will vote with a vengence in November.
