The Department of Homeland Security intelligence branch is warning law enforcement, first responders and private sector partners nationwide Friday of potential domestic violence extremist activity in response to the Supreme Court's decision on abortion, according to a memo obtained by CNN.
The memo from the DHS Office of Intelligence and Analysis says federal and state government officials, including judges, "probably are most at risk for violence in response to the decision."
It also includes warnings about "First Amendment protected events," reproductive and "family advocacy health care facilities," and faith-based organizations being targets for violence or criminal incidents.
"Americans' freedom of speech and right to peacefully protest are fundamental Constitutional rights. Those rights do not extend to violence and other illegal activity. DHS will continue working with our partners across every level of government to share timely information and to support law enforcement efforts to keep our communities safe," a Homeland Security spokesperson told CNN in a statement.

Jfc, you'd think we were trying to overthrow the government. Oh wait, this warning wasn't issued when a coup was occurring in DC.

(95,264 posts)Put bluntly, I can't think of a single Constitutional reason persons ought to be forbidden to parade under arms at the home of various 'justices' indicating their displeasure with the decision these have rendered.
It is is simply no threat of violence that ought to worry any law enforcement agency. Just citizens exercising their rights under the Constitution.
The idea there will be violent attacks from the left on churches and scam clinics is simply nonesense.

(58,785 posts)RW terrorists blow up people but LW terrorists blow up (damned few) buildings, damns, drilling rigs, etc, -- after giving warnings so people won't be hurt.
But it's true. Right before tRump was elected, federal statistics on who performed domestic violent terrorist acts were:
4% Muslim RW.
2% LW.
The extreme disparity in both numbers and propensity for violence help explain why the trumpists can't find an "anitfa," much less a group of them, when they need to point to one.

(32,884 posts)I know a lot of Dems/liberals/progressives who are hopping mad and they DO want to demonstrate.
(Include me in that number!) But none of them - NOT ONE - wants a violent, dangerous or illegal protest march.
It will be done legally or not at all.
Nobody wants to provoke the gun-enabled assholes who feel entitled and provoked.

(7,356 posts)But upon further reflection, everybody *knows* who the violent ones are, and this may actually be about them becoming emboldened to attack abortion providers in the remaining free states.

Every pregnant woman in an abortion-ban state. Yes, every pregnant woman. Because now a woman will be suspected of ending her pregnancy if she has a spontaneous abortion. They will all be suspect.
