This is a losing issue for Republicans," moaned one GOP strategist.
Former President Donald Trump is reportedly angry and agitated about the Supreme Court decision overturning Roe v. Wade, which he fears will hurt Republican outcomes in the November midterm elections, according to sources.
Though Trump has publicly gushed about the decision and taken credit for it because of the Supreme Court justices he picked, he keeps shitting all over his greatest accomplishment, a source who claims to have spoken with Trump about it told Rolling Stone magazine.
When you speak to him, its the response of someone fearing the backlash and fearing the politics of what happens when conservatives actually get what they want on abortion, the source added. I do not think hes enjoying the moment as much as many of his supporters are.
The New York Times reported Friday that Trump has been complaining since after the draft decision was released last month that the reversal is bad for Republicans.

(46,114 posts)Trump realizes that with "mission accomplished," the GOP got what it wanted with a super-majority USSC and no longer needs him. They got their tax cut and states in disarray with a hodgepodge of abortion laws. Go play golf Donald.

(20,136 posts)The GOP establishment doesn't need him but he has a lot of people who will do whatever he says. Hopefully enough to split the vote if the GOP tries to go with someone else in 2024.

I hope they live with deep regret.
It wont be for inflicting this atrocity on the American people. Any regret they have will be for the loss of power, which is all they care about.

These, and the fake elector plan might peel some people loose from the "Party of Nothing"
Some Republicans felt duped by Team Trumps fake electors plot
And they may pay a price for their complicity.

We were kind of useful idiots or rubes at that point, said Robert Sinners, a former Trump campaign staffer, adding he now feels he was misled about the effort. Im angry because I think, in a sense, no one really cared if people were potentially putting themselves in jeopardy.

(129,020 posts)(who not only anchored all 3 local broadcast stations here but briefly worked in NYC as a local anchor before returning here and also counts as his most notable coverage in his career - following the Beatles during their original U.S. tour in the '60s) has a regular "commentary" on politics.
I heard the latest last night where he mentioned an interesting tidbit (where he is, as many of the old '70s/'80s broadcast anchors like Diane Allen were, probably a closet Republican) - he has a number of sources in the local and state PA GOP infrastructure and noted that one of them was talking about fundraising for Josh Shapiro, who is the (D) running against the loon Christo-fascist J6 insurrectionist Doug Mastriano (R) for Governor. This was in response to Roe v. Wade.
The "establishment" GOP tried their darnedest and failed to knock both Mastriano (running for Governor) and Oz (running for Senator) off the ticket.
I have posted before that Shapiro has had an unusual (but thankful) level of quiet but strong popularity here in PA where during both his 2016 and 2020 Attorney General races, he actually received more votes than any of the Presidential and Senatorial candidates on the ballot - whether (D) or (R).

By the way, here's a bit of trivia: a clock that loses a minute a day is less accurate than a stopped clock, because it is right only once a day...
Then again, the slow clock is more useful, at least at first.
