Sympthsical
(9,073 posts)Watching white people rage that a black man doesn't behave the way they want and expect due to his skin color is certainly a look.
You'd think there'd be some commentary or soul searching about the ugliness in this. "Why am I ok with nonwhite people who do what I want, but when they don't, I just talk about their race all day and make it fundamental to how I see them?"
Yeah, that self-awareness ain't gonna happen.
"I just don't get white supremacists." Oh. I think the understanding is closer than one expects.

(42,704 posts)Does anyone think Democrats are going to start proposing bans on inter-racial marriage?

Overturning Roe also could eventually help walk back interracial marriage, same-sex marriage, birth control and other rights

3 months ago, this happened ::: a GOPig that thinks it would be cool to ban interracial marriage
Republican Sen. Mike Braun is attempting a rather unconvincing cleanup job after telling reporters on Tuesday that the Supreme Court was wrong to strike down state laws banning interracial marriage in its landmark 1967 decision, Loving v. Virginia.
Braun, the junior senator from Indiana, made his comments during a media call in which he argued that policy issues should generally be left in the hands of state governments whenever possible, especially in the case of abortion.
So you would be OK with the Supreme Court leaving the question of interracial marriage to the states? a reporter asked.
Yes, Braun answered. I think that thats something that if youre not wanting the Supreme Court to weigh in on issues like that, youre not going to be able to have your cake and eat it too. I think thats hypocritical. https://slate.com/news-and-politics/2022/03/republican-sen-mike-braun-says-supreme-court-should-not-have-struck-down-state-laws-banning-interracial-marriage-then-backtracks-unconvincingly.html

(42,704 posts)And it would take a Democrat being an idiot to offend a portion of the Democratic electorate by proposing to make their marriages illegal.
Not sure what the point is of your posting what a Republican had to say unless you can't tell the difference between a Republican and a Democrat.

(68,582 posts)ridiculous meme and post. Democrats would do no such thing...we better start figuring out how to win more elections if we don't want more regression.

(36,221 posts)If gay marriage is on the block, using Loving v VA will be used in legal arguments to retain the right. If that argument fails, Loving falls as well.
How could it not?

Loving turned on the equal protection clause of the 14th amendment, which is at its strongest where racial matters are in play.
Obergefell turned primarily on the due process clause, as did Roe.
And the point being made is that it is insane for Democrats to be pushing for inter-racial marriage bans just to troll Thomas.

(2,252 posts)who will bring back slavery, it's the GOP who will legalize slavery and enslave POC. Thank God for BLM. It's time that White Terrorists Murderers like George Zimmerman and Kyle Rittenhouse spend the rest of their lives looking over their shoulders for the great darkness to engulf them. I for one will not advise women that this is a time to be gentle. Women need to confront the white dragons of terrorism no matter what color robes the dragons are wearing. The lives they save may be their own, and perhaps the lives of their daughters.
