One group can make a huge difference in November if they care to. We all know a few of them.

Most of us know people who do not vote.

Non-voters need to step up.

I've convinced two people it's worth their time this November.

Both of them had previously felt they didn't know enough to choose sides and were too busy. Now, they agree that between the right to choose and the gun laws, there is an easy choice and they promised me they would vote this round.

Most know a number of people who don't vote. Encourage them, educate them, blame them, shame them, whatever it takes.

Around 40% of eligible voters don't vote.

Make it personal. We need their help.

In this case, it’s handing our country over to fascists. Voting is what keeps our democracy alive and someone choosing not to vote is doing their part to kill it for all of us.

“When someone doesn’t vote, they’re giving two votes to the person they disagree with.”

That oughta convince a few people to exercise that right - before it’s taken away from them. Last Friday should be a wake-up call that rights CAN AND WILL be taken away.

A SHRIEKINGLY LOUD wake-up call.

Most of the people that I know who decline to vote do so because they would be arrested for various warrants or they would be located by various authorities for various offenses, most of which happened in their youth and were not that big of a deal except for the constant vacuum that is 'legal fines'. If there was a way to assure such people that their vote would not lead to their incarceration, I suspect the percentage of 'non's that feel now is the time would increase. But, I am not sure there is a way to be a valid voter and stay anonymous.

Maybe you can find some helpful info at one of these sites? Also, check the Secretary of State website of the states people live in. Almost all have a voting/elections section.

https://www.aclu.org - The American Civil Liberties Union has been at the forefront, defending Americans' constitutional rights since 1920 with its team of attorneys. The nonpartisan nonprofit has filed more than 20 lawsuits in states across the country so people living there can safely vote. In addition to its litigation efforts, it's launched the Let People Vote campaign to inform people on their voting rights and how to vote by mail in their state, and to notify them of election deadlines along with voting tips.

https://www.lwv.org - The League of Women Voters is a nonpartisan, grassroots organization working to protect and expand voting rights and ensure everyone is represented in our democracy. We empower voters and defend democracy through advocacy, education, and litigation, at the local, state, and national levels.

https://floridarrc.com - The Florida Rights Restoration Coalition works to ensure the voting rights of formerly incarcerated people, or "returning citizens," in Florida. In 2018, Floridians overwhelmingly voted "yes" on Amendment 4 to restore voting rights to residents who had felony convictions. This returned voting rights to about 1.2 million people. Later, Florida Governor Ron DeSantis signed a bill into law which requires the enfranchised voters to pay off all their court debts or they can't vote.

The coalition pays for the fines, fees, and court costs for returning citizens so they can vote. The average amount is $1,500 for each person. You can donate to its fines and fees fund here; 100 percent of it goes to this cause.

Working people. Good people, living as normal a life as they can in this red shithole state.

The feeling I get when engaging them in my pitch to motivate them to register & vote Dem is that they are so downtrodden from generations of racism & extreme poverty that the hope has gone out.

Maybe this is why the Democratic party has been nonresponsive to my emails & calls offering to volunteer.

I keep trying.

I'm a man and I joined them because they are much more active then the Democratic party is here.

I made phone calls and volunteered for them. I once was calling their list to get out the vote. I had several voters who challenged me to prove their vote would be counted. I couldn't. Not sure those folks came out to vote.

People who do Not trust the system do Not vote. So you have to get them to believe in the system first.

The system has been systematically screwing working people & poc for many decades.

I've been sharing about qpukes promise to end SS & Medicare. They all have elders who depend on the benefits they paid into while working.

Seems to get their attention.

But will it translate to votes?

Dunno, but I feel strongly I must keep trying!

With Ford's Blue Oval City (6,000+ jobs) & many construction workers coming to build this monstrosity, coupled with people moving to Knoxville to enjoy mountain life while working remotely, qpukes are getting worried.

Changing voting laws, changing polling places, blah, blah, blah. But it shows they are worried.

Thx again!

The less likely you are to vote and the more educated you are, the more likely you are to vote.

So if you educate the young or allow them to be educated without leaving them with mortgage sized debts, you are more likely to get those voters out to vote.

So to restore faith (because untrusting people do not vote either) in young voters who have been educated or plan for more education. You could forgive the student loan interest and then promise them more student loan assistance. That would easily get you 45 million votes, probably most of them new voters.

The GOP use policy to buy votes, get campaign contributions and win elections. The tax give away to the filthy rich is all about buying the filthy rich's support and campaign contributions. The GOPers are constantly giving their supporters ponies. The Supremely Religious Court just gave Christian GOPers their most favorite little pony.

Why don't Dems do the same thing????????????????????

There are a lot of unfamiliar pieces and terms to intimidate them. Local vs partisan elections, primary vs. general elections, school bond and constitutional amendment election. Another big barrier.

So is going to the polls and discovering there are a lot of people on the ballot you have never heard of.

Do you treat it like a multiple choice test and take your best guess? NO! (But I confess to having done that way too many times until I realized my mistake, and learned that I need to research the candidates or skip the race.

Parents who vote can help a lot, but youngsters entering the voting age population need guidance, mentors, videos. They're at an age where they may not take help from parents.

The League of Women Voters in my Texas county has a website that has ALL the info (to the best of my ability) and a lot of how-to material. (I'm a main webmaster.) But not so many people even know about the League or that they can find help to become educated voters from us. We don't have a big budget to advertise with either.
