Green Day's Billie Joe Armstrong Is Renouncing U.S. Citizenship

?w=681&h=383&crop=1
The Grammy-winning Green Day singer/songwriter slammed the US during a Friday night concert in London, and vowed he was moving to the UK. He proclaimed “F**k America,” adding that he was “renouncing” his citizenship in the wake of the Supreme Cout overturning Roe v. Wade’s federal abortion protections.

Armstrong, 50, told his audience “There’s too much f***ing stupid in the world to go back to that miseable f**king excuse for a country” when he made his reveal..

There is NO perfect country. Cutting and running is not the answer. Probably better to say that he got out of the country all he could, and now he's moving on.

That may be true, but there absolutely are Better countries out there, where they don’t have shithole laws, and aren’t on the path to fascism, if not already there.

to make this country better. Republicans want to turn the clock back to the 18th century. Regressive policies aren't the way to take a country closer to perfect.

Otherwise he’s gonna be in for a world of misery trying to untangle the mess of being stateless.

Also, just saying “I renounce my citizenship” doesn’t make it so- there’s a formal process.

It may only take this November to trigger my desire to leave.

How many more moves can the Rethug Reich make before they pull a Cornyn and just say how they feel? You know - separate but equal. The hoods and robes are coming out now. The only question is what flavor of Fascism they take. Is it the Pinochet and Salazar and Franco kind or Nazi German kind which was more ethnic targeting and industrial in its murderous undertakings? We already know that they want to kill Liberals and the Left. They say they do.

I used to think that the military would snuff out most power grabs (drones are silent and deadly sky farts) but with it being volunteer based the last 45 years it skews hard right. So that fail safe may not work.

So if the courts are packed with relatively young, permanently in-place, religious types that really do believe that the Handmaid's Tale is a romantic comedy we are truly fucked. So long as the SC is the final arbiter on every significant issue we are up the creek without a paddle, and a hole in the bottom of the canoe, the next 20-40 years. We are in our 50's so we do not want to be partisan fighters anymore (I am still on the hard Left side but am getting too old for that). Retirees yes, rebels, no.

I don't want to leave while my parents, who are in their 80's, are still alive. But I do plan to explore options in the next 2 years, so that at least I have a course of action, in case I am able to leave when the time comes, assuming it's not too late, which is definitely a possibility.

My in-laws, who I like more than my own "parents", are in their mid to late 80's too. We wouldn't want to leave before they are gone but people can live longer now so I don't know how this will all play out.

But the personal things can be quickly overwhelmed by the macro fascism.

In the meantime we are getting passports renewed and looking for paying jobs that are hard to get but if one hits then we are outta here. As in blow this popstand.

I wish us both good luck in our journeys.

I'm 55 am done with the bullshit. Not gonna stick it out.
