They believe State's Rights have priority of Federal Law and that it should be up to the States to interpret the Constitution for themselves. They are following the Constitution, but it's the Confederate Constitution.

(7,417 posts)they would have had to dismantle Southern culture and that task is nearly impossible. It would have required forcible removal of the population into other parts of the nation where their culture couldn't dominate.

(7,417 posts)That's why Reconstruction was a failure, as I tried to say. The Confederacy was a manifestation of the dominant culture in the Deep South and Tidewater, combined with Appalachian xenophobia. It then spread westward after the Civil War.
I don't know how you stop that apart from methods I find personally repulsive for the amount of suffering and heartache they create.

States Rights didn't mean crap when it came to guns. Republicans certainly didnt' support States Rights when it came to allowing gay marriage, decriminalizing drugs, or right to die laws
Look at Clarence Thomas. He wants to over turn Lawrence and Obergfell and Griswold next. A court case suspiciously absent from his list? Loving v Virginia.
The conservative judges are just like conservatives in general. Its about using power to get what you want.

Woodfires and light from oil-lamps is actually pretty nice replacing frequent electrical service interruption.

They spend all day, everyday actively at war with The Constitution and at War with the majority of Americans.
