if a Muslim walked out to the fifty yard line and led a prayer service, Justice Gorsuch would shit his fucking pants

I am a lifelong Christian, and I would pry with any or all of those before I would pray with a Talibangelical "Christian."

(62 posts)Part of the reason he was fired, was players felt play time was based on if you joined.

(33,424 posts)He started praying by himself. He did not request anyone join him. The school board cited three games where he prayed as the reason he was fired. In none of those three games did any player join him in the prayers.

(8,582 posts)Not on a football field.
People who pray in public do it for one reason only.

(33,424 posts)So it says a lot of things, some contradictory. Myself, I don't care. If I decide to pray I will pray wherever I feel like it. I don't care what anybody thinks.

(8,582 posts)I believe it was Jesus who was making the point about how public prayer is often about the person's ego, being seen as pious by others.

(33,424 posts)When he is not in your "closet"?
In fact he puts his prayers right on the White House government tax supported website
We pray for our nation as we face an inflection point in our history.
So much is going to change no matter whos sitting in my job. The world is changing. The world is changing.
I theres a the moment but theres also a moment of great progress, of lives saved in this pandemic, not just the ones lost new jobs created for people, new hope for rebuilding the nation, but also a moment of pain for the lost lives and the and the lives lost in this pandemic. And the cruel twist of fates that occur.
You know, at a moment of great division of our democracy is at great grave risk. I pray that we follow what Jesus taught us: to serve rather than be served. I dont always do it. I hope try. I dont always do it.
I pray to keep the faith. That very promise of America, believing that theres nothing we cant do, where every person is created equal in the image of God no matter who or where we come from, who we are, or what our color, or how we choose to pray, or whether or not we choose to pray they deserve to be treated equally throughout their lives.
Faith in the very idea of America that can be defined, in my view, by a single word. Ive been saying this for over 30 years. When I get asked to define America, one word: Possibilities. Possibilities.

(34,916 posts)Jesus had some things to say about public displays of prayer. But, it's not like these clowns actually care what Jesus ever said. (Or, didn't say, as in the case of abortion.)
