Not only was Jesus never recorded as having condemned homosexuality, there are also no recorded words of him condemning abortion. He did condemn hypocrisy and divorce, though. Interesting, isn't it.
Of course, I don't follow Christianity, but I am very familiar with the scriptures of that religion. I am correct in this.

(8,923 posts)they apply to themselves, like their patriotism. While, in actuality, they push racism and hatred and greed. There is really nothing biblical they represent that hasnt been twisted or just outright made up. They are quite literally false christians, very much like the Pharisees, who acted very religious for show and were exposed by Jesus for their hypocrisy, and then wanted to murder him.

(115,719 posts)RW evangelical "Christianity" isn't even a religion in the traditional sense any more - it's just a framework for using the culture wars to browbeat politicians to get the results they want. They like TFG (who is about as close to being an antichrist as anybody since Hitler) because he gave them permission to let their fears over the changing demographic be expressed as hate calling for violence, and to Hell with Jesus and all that turn-the-other-cheek foolishness.

(1,783 posts)...is "Scripture and Tradition!". "OMG, the Magisterium!". The Magisterium being a relatvely ill-defined entity that mostly means whatever they themselves want it to mean, particularly when arguing an especially thorny topic which they want to appear oversimplified. This is a big part of what led to the defection of Luther, the Reformation, and the sola scriptura doctrine of most Protestant denominations.
As an aside, a lot of scholars think that modern capitalism and individualism would probably never have developed--or would look very different--if the Reformation had not occurred.
