Tina Peters, Mesa County Clerk. was very popular with the pro-Trump crowd in Colorado. She had been arrested last year and put in cuffs, on video, for her efforts to prove the machines were not accurate. She had been restricted from monitoring any county elections.
So she decided to run for Colorado Secretary of State, whereby she would be in charge of counting the votes in all the counties. She had traveled to numerous events outside of Colorado to push her conspiracy theories. She was always well-received by the Trump crowds.
But, last Tuesday, she lost her race badly. She came in third with about 25% of the vote. I am sure Republicans still in Trump's orbit took notice? Trump did not help her at all. In fact, he may have cost her votes?
The present Secretary of State, Jena Griswold, a Democrat, is expected to win in November. She is very popular and competent.

(82,849 posts)He doesn't rally the troops for his favored candidates, certainly doesn't provide them with any material support (like money). From what I've seen, most of the time he endorses the clear front-runner in a small field of candidates, and then crows when they win their primary. He sounds like nothing so much as the rooster who thinks his crowing is what made the sun come up in the morning.
But when he endorses an iffy candidate in a crowded field, and the candidate inevitably loses, you don't hear a peep out of the former guy. And the softball-lobbers to whom he grants interviews know better than to ask him about the likes of Tina Peters. I don't know what his percentage is in picking winners and losers, but if a hockey goalie had that kind of goals against average, he'd be better off taking up curling.

(12,412 posts)Conservative people are ashamed of her. She has been implicated in the trial of Tina Peters. She has lost her restaurant. Conservatives who ran against her in the primary, which a lot of Dems switched over to vote for her, are going to support the Dem candidate. Add the RvW decision and we will see this district switch.

(19,477 posts)Boebert wouldn't have won by such a large margin.

(12,412 posts)It sounds crazy but that is what a lot of younger Dem voters did.
The numbers bear it out when you look at the other Reps in other races.
The gal running for AG that is in trouble is a long time cohort of Blowbert and she only got 25 % losing her race.

(19,477 posts)The votes for and against Boebert came from her district only, not statewide, like the AG race.
