The SCOTUS and GOP are making us a cruel, unjust country

Guns? Go for it.

Abortion? No way, no how. Even if it kills the mother.

Separation of church and state? Go ahead. Use your team to pray to Jesus in the middle of a football field.

Global warming: The EPA has no right to set limits on how much fuel producers can pollute the atmosphere.

In case you haven't been paying attention, the barbarian majority of the Supreme Court is quickly destroying our constitution and ignoring the ecology of our planet.

It took the Republicans almost 50 years to get their super majority on the Supreme Court and now that they've got it, we see the results.

It's easy to say, "No one will ever vote for a Republican again." Unfortunately, millions of people are happy with the damage they've done, are doing, and will continue to do. Only a fool would miss the reality that they have declared war on our way of life. And they're winning, big time.

And our only answer to this is GOTV. Yes, I agree that we must turn out a huge vote. And if/when we ever again control the government, with no Manchin or Sinema, we may be able to make some changes and fix a few things.

Actually, my reaction to that last sentence is that our system of government will be gone, and our planet may become uninhabitable, long before we can do much in the way of repairs.

Mean spirited, cruel, uncaring people are holding the levers of power in this country. And you know what. We're sitting on the sidelines screaming GOTV, while they merrily continue down their road of destruction.

We are fucked. And much of it is because of our own passiveness.

Does all of this sound pessimistic to you? Okay, as we are careening down a steep cliff, please tell me where I'm wrong. And, if possible, tell me how we can change what's happening.

And please don't throw any "You hate the Democrats" at me. I'm a lifelong Dem, but that's beside the point. Especially when our world is being dismantled at this very moment, by mindless knuckle-dragging Huns, and we're doing, ... not much.

I think we just finally decided to stop pretending we were ever anything else.

racists, anti-immigration, anti-Semites, and those who were bigoted haters of anything and everyone that didn't fit their view of what "their" America was supposed to be.

Seems that Trump opened the closet door, let them come out, and now, they're as tough to get rid of as roaches.

I agree with all you said, although I would change "...they have declared war on our way of life" to "declared war on life itself, speeding up the Sixth Extinction."
My intuition is that November 2022, the midterms, could be our last election.
VOTE as if it is, and get everyone, especially the young voters, to the polls.
Thank you for your eloquence.

“The power to destroy a thing is the absolute control over it.”

and here we are. Those willing to destroy our nation have taken firm control.

be fooled into thinking there's no difference between Repubs and Democrats let them get majorities, they set about dismantling the liberal principles and procedures Democrats established. And of course blocking our liberal Democratic attempts to expand them.

ONE party has ever fought repeatedly to keep courts from having to consider evidence of innocence, including in death penalty cases. That's the Republicans. ONE party has always been horrified by them and fought to establish and expand individual rights. Why would anyone EVER need to know more than that to realize there's a huge difference?

Since we will all live with whatever comes next, no matter how much it may seem like it, it's always time and never too late to wise up.

Every election will put EITHER Democratic or Republican majorities in office.

Next time a political agent even suggests Democrats are a poor choice, that we really need something else or why bother, tell him to fuck himself, that lying down for Republican majorities to do it is NOT an option. We have big things to do instead.

since the day I became politically aware. I've used words, and gotten them published everywhere I could, to make it apparent who and what they are. Their fascism, what they stand for, what their against. Who they hate. And the demented world they want to see come into being.

And it hasn't made one damn piece of difference. Nonetheless, I'll keep at it.

It is even more possible that we will have an uninhabitable planet. Our government only represents less than 5% of the world's population, and that other 95% is growing much faster than we are. Every one of those people uses resources, including energy from fossil fuel. You seriously can't expect Democrats to fix that.
