Also, I'm pretty sure that every country has rapists (and if not every country, certain the vast majority). There absolutely are conditions that lead to greater or lesser amounts of all types of crime (including rape), but I'm not aware of any society in human history that has ever achieved the complete absence of it. I don't honestly know how the U.S. compares with other countries in terms of the number or rapists per capita, but I doubt that it qualifies for shithole status on that basis alone.

I maintain that when the rapist is 18 or over, they, just like all others are named in media for crimes, can be named -- the main stipulation being the use of the word alleged along with their name.

How the U.S compares depends on the year of measurement, and there's not much recently available, though I did take a look at this from 2021.

After arrest, alleged criminals have no reasonable expectation of privacy. After conviction they're placed on various nationwide sex offender registries.

As for my shithole use, I'm just riffing off Tiedrich's phrase, since I didn't think he uses it to hit at core problems with Republicans. Although I do believe that any country whose women are raped is a candidate for being "uncivilized" no matter how much wealth it has. Violating anyone's bodily autonomy with self styled impunity is barbaric.

Even if they have their menses, the bodies of many young girls are not physically mature enough to safely give birth. The average weight for a 10 year old is 70 pounds. She could gain a third of her weight or more during pregnancy. Most adult women do not gain a third of their weight during pregnancy.

A 10 year old is a child, not a woman, and to force her to undergo pregnancy is cruel and inhumane. Of course, cruelty is the goal of the religious right.

should and yes it could kill the little girl. Wish there was a way to suppress girls that age from starting periods that early in life. Years ago (early 80’s) when I worked at Planned Parenthood, the youngest girl I saw was eleven and she had been raped by a step-brother. My supervisor told me to call division of family services. The mother pleaded with me not to do so, but by law I had to. She was very angry with me.
