danger would be in, right now? How much did Trump destabilize us, and just what were he and Putin talking about in all those secretive meetings? The Right, especially with the Supreme Court moves handing the election process to Republicans, seems to be undertaking a scorched earth strategy. I don't think our side is really understanding how far they're willing to take this.

We have had for some time the enemy within and the enemy beyond our physical borders. They are like two sides of the same coin minted in a foundry of delusions of white male supremacy and/or misunderstandings about western civilization.
I think Putin felt secure, with Trump in our presidency, that he could continue to snack on Ukraine. I think he believed that, by hook or crook, Trump would get a second term and prevent NATO from interfering. Russian troop movements were initially intended as a show of force, not a full scale invading army. Ukraine would be unable to defend itself without NATO backing and it would become a Russian puppet state.
When Trump lost the election and his machinations to remain in office did not work, Putin sent his military into Ukraine (just weeks after Bidens inauguration). It was a Shock and Awe campaign designed to beat NATO to the punch but ended up destroying the myth of Russias military might.
A woke NATO has is reconfiguring the balance of power in Europe.
The radical right was also counting on Trumps second term. They had all of their pieces in place to impose the Federalists Nation-View upon us. The intended to proceed, expected backlash, and were counting on Having a president who would declare Martial Law as soon as demonstrations would materialize. Like Putin they have initiated their Shock and Awe campaign. It remains to be seen how this will end for our nation. We are just beginning to write our role.
