Former President Barack Obama sent an email to Ronny Jackson, a former White House physician who went on to become a GOP congressman, expressing his "disappointment" for his criticism of Joe Biden's cognitive health in 2020, according to a copy of the email obtained by CNN.

"I have made a point of not commenting on your service in my successor's administration and have always spoken highly of you both in public and in private. You always served me and my family well, and I have considered you not only a fine doctor and service member but also a friend," Obama said in the email.
Obama added: "That's why I have to express my disappointment at the cheap shot you took at Joe Biden via Twitter. It was unprofessional and beneath the office that you once held. It was also disrespectful to me and the many friends you had in our administration. You were the personal physician to the President of the United States as well as an admiral in the U.S. Navy. I expect better, and I hope upon reflection that you will expect more of yourself in the future."

This happened a while ago, but it's the first I heard of it.

P.S. this was the first I'd seen of this, also.

It appears it is Ronny Jackson, not Biden, who is "cognitively compromised." Republicans are always projecting.

(1,690 posts)MDs are typically only good at one thing. Doctoring. Yet they think they are experts on anything you want to talk about. Not all operate this way to be sure, but a lot do, especially surgeons. When it comes to politics, theyre just like anyone else. Some think the sun rises and sets on the Orange Nazi and others like us, think hes a fucking moron.

(16,529 posts)Not as a health care professional; he was in charge of all the av stuff in their education department. Some of the programs he did involved surgeons, and he was also occasionally asked to do things like filming surgeries. So he had quite a bit of contact with the surgeons.
He said all the stuff you hear about surgeons having huge egos, God complexes, etc., is quite acurate.

(34,092 posts)I have had far too many surgeons in my life.
My five favorite doctors - and among the most humble - are all surgeons. Two of them are responsible for me being an uncomfortable patient for many doctors. They are primariliy responsible for the extensive research I do anytime I seek medical care, and for being a very strong advocate for myself. Way back in the dark ages, I had a condition which was rare then - but wildly popular now due to the increase in body-building. But at the time, no one knew how to treat it. After the first tried a couple of things (which failed) and prepping me for surgery, I asked for a second opinion - so the surgeon called in a buddy from a neighboring hospital. They called off the surgery and admitted to me that neither one knew how to treat my condition. They brought me copies of every article they could find on my condition (around a half-dozen) - and invited me to help brainstorm what might work. An off-hand remark by one of them got my brain going and I proposed a treatment path to take advantage of that off-hand observation. It didn't fit with the standard of care for the medication I was on, but they authorized a waiver. I am one of the few people who had my condition in that era who has complete use of the arm impacted by the condition. (Now they know better how to treat it . . . but, ironically, the 3rd out of the 5 is the surgeon who treated me 2 decades later when the condition proved to be bilateral.
But I also fired one surgeon (an egotistical, condescending, incompetent fool), and recently described a second as too much of a surgeon to be the best doctor-patient fit for me.

The more influence Obama has on the USA, the better off will be as a nation and the World community would benefit as well.

We worry about Democratic leadership being old (Biden, Pelosi, Schumer, Feinstein, etc.).
The Party is somewhat in a quandary about the next generation of leadership. Beto is exciting and Newsome is capable; I like Schiff as well. Obama is skillful and still in physical and mental prime if chose to continue public service. The $1000 I sent Obama in 2008 is the only money I have ever sent to a candidate. The vote for Obama in 2008 was my favorite vote ever for POTUS.
Too many people just cannot be reached. We need to persevere in peeling back more people to be of good heart and mind.
Some ways as a Party we did not live up to the opportunities in Obama's election.

(42,770 posts)Is still very fishy. Remembering what a devil we are dealing with, he goes to a hospital where he can command staff ( including Dr. Ronnie) since he's in the presidential wing, the hospital is military ( quietly take orders) and they are isolated from public and other hospital staff view. Yet he bounces back a couple days later in his suit, prancing around? ? Call bullshit
One of those things you think, oh ya, forgot about that.
Knowing trump, I am still only 50% sure he even had covid. And I am only 25% confident Melania had it. She " got it" a day or two after she used the words Christmas and the F word ( on tape) in the same sentence. I call bullshit diversion!
Think they all wanted to say they got it ( of course no proof shown, blaming HIPAA) to show they were just fine and bounced back quickly. * Hope I spelled HIPAA correctly
