Ark. pharmacist arrested after 'violent episode' at Walmart

https://wreg.com/news/local/ark-pharmacist-arrested-after-violent-episode-at-walmart/

HELENA-WEST HELENA, Ark. (WREG)— Chaos at the Helena-West Helena Arkansas Walmart lands a pharmacist in jail.

Snip

“She has just given the name of her daughter, to pick up the prescription, and his words were ‘You’re a demon’ and that ‘I’m going to ‘f***ing kill you,'” said Laura Wheeler.

According to Laura Wheeler’s daughter, the pharmacist started trashing the pharmacy, threw objects at the pharmacy’s plexiglass windows, and then took his unexplained rampage into the main part of the store.

“Everyone was running,” Wheeler said. “He was still cussing and kicking things. She was able to go one way. They ushered her out the door.”

More at link. Several people injured. Name of pharmacisg not released. The lady was picking up her infant daughtrr's rx.

Religious freak? Use of "demon" leads me to believe ghis is a possibility.

Drug induced psychotic episode or a psychotic episode from someone who has regular medication but went off of it, e.g. bipolar disorder.

The pharmacies do very little formulating with anything volatile or very friable.
I've been in plants that make tablets, capsules & caplets. Most pills using wet blending (sometimes dry for hydrolyzable active ingredients), but even then benign solvents like glycerol are used.
The pills and caplets are created in a die with dozens of pounds of pressure. They are not friable and the active ingredients generally have incredibly low vapor pressures at room temperature.
Then, a large % are coated, often with a polysaccharide, but sometimes an edible wax.
The exposure level to pharmacy workers is very low. OSHA has exposure standards for that workplace & the standard is perilously close to zero.
Handling pills is unlikely to cause measurable exposure. It's during manufacture that the risks are measurable.
This guy isn't acting out because of exposure to meds. He's either a maniac, a major jerk, or both.

FBI: Vaccine saboteur believes earth is flat, sky is not real
"The earth is flat; the sky is not real, rather it is a shield put up by the Government to prevent individuals from seeing God," a coworker told investigators pharmacist Steven Brandenburg believed.

But it turned out good ol' Steve is from Wisconsin.

Walgreens pharmacy. Rude to me and the people that work in it act like they would rather be elsewhere. Do like my cvs pharmacy though. They have always been polite and kind to me and my husband. There are no independent pharmacies near me anymore and Costco is to far away. There is a grocery store that has pharmacy, but am very happy with my local CVS.

It's less than half a mile away and has a drive-thru, so it couldn't be more convenient, and I've never had any problems with them so far. I'll probably stick with them as long as I'm living in this location, unless something unforseen occurs.

Extreme stress can cause this type of break with reality.

But "demon" assertion leads me to believe rogue pharmacist might be a religious nut.

Many acute psychotic breaks have some reference to the devil, etc.
So may or may not be a religious nut, but today who the heck knows.

He is violent, paranoid, manic, homicidal, clearly psychotic.

This kind of psychotic break is quite dangerous, references to demons and threats to kill people.

He could also be under the influence of something, but I would think he is either a very heavy user or using along with a pre-exiting mental illness.

Maybe he is doing amphetamines on top of that as well. With long term amphetamine abuse there can be paranoid psychosic symptoms.

Yes obviously he has advanced degrees and passed state boards with interviews.

Job interview was passed as well. So he has been medicated at some point in the past and stable.

Went off meds, maybe some stress at home or work and here we are.

He is quite dangerous it appears and should be restrained for his own welfare and the welfare of others. He could become suicidal when jailed.

But it is usually dysfunctional behavior because it is so excessive and causes problems.
So the guy would buy a whole flower shop instead of one bouquet. Or a woman will clean her rug to the extent it becomes moldy and rotting.

But yes typically voices are telling people to do bad things. These are command hallucinations which are typically quite dangerous. When God is telling you that there are devils to be killed, who wants to disobey God??

But your point is taken, voices are not usually telling a person to do reasonable, nice actions.

the house should be raided and all guns confiscated. No gun possession for a year.

That's what a 'red flag law' means. If 'we the people' were serious about gun legislation, we would demand that the laws we now have should be enforced.

Some bully in school is taken from the school to the police, that triggers a red flag. Immediately, the house is inspected and all guns removed. Let the judge and lawyers sort it out, not the police or school guidance counselor.

Some girl is assaulted on a college campus? While the perp is trying to talk he/her way out of it to the poh-leese, the college room is searched and all guns removed.

Some unarmed man shot 24 times because of a traffic violation? The houses of all those officers involved are searched and all guns are confiscated until the judge and lawyers do their jobs and decide proper action. Not just police review or mayoral speeches.
