1. What was going on at the Dept. of Defense? Larry Hogan was just on CNN saying he tried for hours to get permission to send the MD National Guard. Never got a response from the acting Sec. of Defense. Trump appointed 5 people to acting positions at Defense after he lost including the Secretary .Who comes in from outside to take a lame duck job for a couple months? It seems like something strange was going on there.
2. What was the plot being discussed at the Willard Hotel? So far no one in the meetings has rolled over. It's clear there was a plan. Trump wasn't going to the Capitol to give another speech. My guess was he planned to enter the Capitol and declare something on the floor of the Senate. Martial Law? An end to the Certification of the votes? His arrival would have happened at about the time of the coordinated assault on the East Door of the Capitol.
3. What coordination was going on between the Proud Boys, Oath Keepers and the people close to Trump. Alex Jones and Roger Stone were doing the coordinating. Will we ever learn the details?
Bonus question: How many drinks did Rudy have on Jan. 5-6?

(5,860 posts)... maybe he planned to go to the Capitol not to "lead the troops," but to declare martial law and deputize the insurrectionists to help implement his edicts. And maybe he put those acting people in the DOD to carry this out.
I mean, I am sure temper tantrums are an everyday occurrence for him. Maybe his reaction in the SUV was normal for him. But he then sulked in the WH dining room for hours afterwards. Maybe it's because that plan was thwarted and it became clear that the insurrectionist terrorists couldn't get his election stolen for him, he wasn't able to cobble together an excuse to declare martial law, and his plan fell apart. I doubt anyone could find concrete evidence of THAT, though.
I don't usually indulge in conspiracies, so take this with a grain of salt.

Everything Trump touches dies. It is always true.
It's simply because he's an idiot.

(3,491 posts)I think you have it exactly right. Everything logically points in that direction. No theory there, just facts.

(5,860 posts)Conspiracy theories are for the crazies and I don't like being in them. However, I'm not sure it's completely unreasonable to think that he planned to march right into the Capitol during the certification to declare martial law to stop the certification himself. I'm sure he thinks he had that power. The dumbfuck didn't count on congressional staff successfully removing everyone to safe locations and he didn't count on secret service this time doing their jobs to keep him safe from an armed mob.
Uh oh, here I go again!

(4,526 posts)If Trump hadn't sent that tweet, by midnight, would they have hunted down and slaughtered all the Democrats? Then what? Disband congress? The SCOTUS? An attempt at martial law?
When did they expect the military to react? AND What reaction did they expect? A full assault of capital hill or did they anticipate the military leaders loyal to TFG, would give troops orders fire on civilians outside of the capital?
