I have been saying for a long time out of control extremism can work in the short term, it destroys itself in the long term.
To put it plainly, the Republican Party is a complete mess. The party is fractured. They have no platform except for being against everything. Attack everything, Eliminate everything, including people rights. Their big plan for November was to attack The Democrats for high inflation.
Gas prices are coming down and the Democrats are about to pass the Inflation Reduction Act.
The Republicans are trying to run away from Trump, but Trump still has his hardcore base. Fox News and many Republican voters don't want Trump to run again. That is a big problem.
Women are organizing across the country because the extremists took away their right to choose. Republicans running for office are going to have to defend what they did. Good fucking luck.
Republicans running for office are going to have to defend the attempted coup on Jan 6th. Good fucking luck.
We are witnessing a historic event. A national party slowly destroying itself. A party involved in an attempted coup. A party that has done something that is unimaginable in America. Something that will highly motivate people to vote. Taking away people rights that they have had for decades. That is not a winning platform.
One more thing; the extremists will become more extreme in their efforts to gain power. They will cheat , commit crimes in the upcoming elections. They will get caught because they are stupid people. This will only compound their problems and hasten their self destruction.

(9,133 posts)the snake still has plenty of life left in it and can do plenty of damages during its long, drawn-out death-throes. I expect that Club Pachyderm is going to take much longer to collapse than the Whig Party did.

(100,123 posts)I don't know why the Biden administration isn't treating Fox and Infowars as if they're a threat to the US government because right now they absolutely 100% are. Hell they were an active part of the coup. There's something that Hannity, Jones, and Carlson know that they're not telling us. I'd love to see them hauled before the committee.

(9,928 posts)And "The Party of Nothing©" has nothing to counter that. They certainly have no substantive issues to run on. They're also "The Party of Spite©" or POS for short.
I cooked up a slogan soup, waiting on DNC 💤💤💤💤 and I'd like to see us push very hard on government interference with individual rights!! Remember that theme?

That said, hammering on the "Government Hands off our Glands" or equivalent, should work.
I would have thought that physicians would be more up in arms about their profession being criminalized. But who knows what is going on there. Catholic hospitals are a big deal, and in the Bay Area, even Catholic cemeteries are advertising. You want grim?
