price to be paid...

...have you seen your natural gas bill?

...have you seen your electric bill?

...have you seen your grocery bill?

...have you seen your rent bill?

...have you seen your property tax bill?

...have you seen the price of gasoline?

...take gasoline...where's the windfall profit tax and a government rebate check to everyone with a driver's license?

...if you think November is going to be peachy, you're whistling past the graveyard...

...hang in there...

4. You are lucky to be in a very small minority then.

Most counties have increased property tax every chance they get. Appraisers offices deny the appeals. Even if one has a fixed interest rate, the escrow amount will go up along with a bill to make up the shortage.

6. Not if the assessor is an elected official in a red state or county.

They are loathe to raise property taxes even as local infrastructure falls apart. Given that at least half of our states are red, and within those states are red counties with red assessors, I don’t really consider that a minority. Anyway, those two things probably aren’t the best examples presented by the OP.

whether it's their fault or not. And they have the largest megaphone to spread that blame.

7. I'll compare July 2021 with July 2022 for our household consisting of 2 retired adults currently
Sun Jul 31, 2022, 12:38 PM
Jul 2022

and a 3rd adult (male) last year:

...have you seen your natural gas bill? $42 in 2021, $38 in 2022 (We installed a new high-efficiency furnace last October to the tune of $3,000 and it made a big difference in our natural gas bill. The up-to-30% increase in natural gas prices didn't reflect in our gas bills.)

...have you seen your electric bill? $123 in 2021, $70 in 2022

...have you seen your grocery bill? $1,258 in 2021, $698 in 2022 (I'm in shock over last year's bill! Must have included a 5th week of grocery shopping.)

...have you seen your property tax bill? It'll be slightly less than last year because NY State gave an unexpected and early 2nd STAR rebate check.

...have you seen the price of gasoline? $195 in 2021, $73 in 2022 (3rd adult drove my car way more miles in 2021 than I do.)
