POTENTIAL to grow into a human child as the legal equivalent of a human child becomes accepted "scientific fact" with laws enacted to protect that cell, how long before sperm cells with their---you know---"potential"--- also be considered children?

Will masturbation be considered "mass murder"?

Until the 1800's, 'common knowledge' was that the male provided 'the seed' and the womb was like a 'plowed field' and thus was simply a vessel for the mighty ManSeed Of Life!

Which, in turn, meant that male masturbation was akin to murdering babies, and an affront to The Sky Daddy.

Once science (particulary microscopes but also in genetics) quickly advanced in the 1800's, the ovum was discovered, and with that, the notion that the male was the 'creator of life' in the form of his semen ... slowly dissolved (but not without a fight at the time of the discovery).

So while I rather doubt that sort of mentality might ever come back, who knows with these zealots.
