My daughter lives outside Tokyo, and goes and documents some of the anti-nuclear demonstrations in her blog. This particular blog post, with photos, translations, etc. is actually TERRIFIC. I end up feeling at one with the Japanese people on this. The posters costumes, wording, etc. are highly creative, and I am so happy that she captured it so well.

bottom line
(94 posts)Thank You and your daughter for this very nice post.
To click on the link & see the people & signs (nicely translated) is very cool.
A person learns every day.
It's so interesting that the Japanese use the symbol of a circle & slash through the nuclear energy symbol.
Makes one wonder, who, when & why, the NU CLEAR symbol was thought of.
If that makes any sense
I screen saved a bunch of the photos. Especially like "cold shutdown" "thought shutdown"
Thank You.
Very strong post.

(1 post)Hi, Thank you for taking a look and commenting. I don't usually use Democratic Underground (Mom does), but I wanted to let you know I'd found a piece on the history of the nuclear symbol. Check out this link: http://wiki.answers.com/Q/What_does_the_nuclear_symbol_stand_for
Please help spread the word that Fukushima is still a huge problem, that we don't really know what's going on with pollution in the ocean, and that many people have been victimized by the power-mongering and negligence of a few "experts." I really appreciate your attention!

Celebration
(15,812 posts)According to my daughter, everything is so downplayed on the media there as to become almost non-existent. Interviews are cut off before getting to the "bad" parts, and anything related to problems with food is censored out.
She used to be a pretty mainstream person listening to mainstream news, but I think she is now starting to wonder what else isn't being covered.
