on Prime last night. Dont get me wrong, I really like him. But as with any TV "news" today the corporate boardroom always has its thumb on the scale. In his interview with Sen. Amy Klobuchar about trying to clarify the Electoral Count Act Veshi, smartly I might add, quickly moved the question to Kansas and the women's rights vote. From this point on, and really if you watch the interview closely, Sen. Klobuchar was caught a bit off guard, I think not expecting that question. She's straight up always prepared and seldom stumbles over her words. You could see her rapidly shifting gears to that question, the usual grin on her face slowly growing bigger. Then Velshi masterfully offers her up the primo 60 seconds. He asked her about Sinema and the reconciliation bill. Sen. Klobuchar was on the train now, spent about 15 seconds on Sinema then lit up like a Xmas tree, took the free solo, about all of the things the bill would do, listing 10-12 other good things in the bill that many people may not be aware of, with the exorbitant passionate charm that makes her so good. During that last part Velshi was quietly trying to interrupt her roll with his best Willy Wonka "please, no, stop" as he felt the corporate collar tighten. He finally told her she had given at least 10 things that need to be talked about and "we all" need to keep talking about them with a falsely irritated tone. He could at least cover his ass in the morning meeting with that evidence

(6,915 posts)I prefer newscasters on mass media with a corporate collar.
Weve seen mom-and-pop journalists on the Internet and 99% of them suck. I follow the remaining 1% of information outlets like DU, where even here we have rules.
The media problem is that Republicans have made giant entertainment programs masquerading as news. Glitzy, glamorous, gaudy.
Corporations can be evil or good, but always money-grubbing. Allowing political propaganda to be disguised as unfiltered information is the problem. Bring back the Fairness Doctrine or a 2022 versionOutlets like Fox News should not be able to collect money as a business when theyre sponsored by political-types. Stop the enrichment and we stop the propaganda.
Treason shouldnt be profitable.

(21,321 posts)some anchors may put a progressive spin on the right wing talking points but it is still what the domestic oligarchs want talked about.
I haven't been able to watch much cable news this week, no Nicolle, no Chris Hayes, and Rachel has slipped a lot. I was hoping that MSNBC would give Medhi Hasan a prime time spot but that would be like bringing Keith Olbermann back, not going to happen.
What a difference the news is compared with what I listen to on Sirius radio. Cable news anchors were ordered to not use the phrase, "The Big Lie" because that is catchy and to the point.

(6,820 posts)Those same cable news "moguls" had no such problem with sloganizing such absurd or profane memes as "war on terror" or "let's go Brandon". It's almost as if (cue the dreamscape transition music) they intentionally sway the national conversation to suit their ever-present myopia.
But that would mean...........hypocrisy, which is like..............propounding a lie, hang the consequences because.................they're above the mortals, those stuck slogging about their coil and.........therefore not held to any reasonable standards of conduct or motivation.

(1,489 posts)I saw this interview and really liked the way Velshi let Klobuchar run with it and then emphasized the need to keep talking about the roughly 10 items that the Senator reeled off so skillfully.
I am a Velshi fan, so I hope that didn't color my favorable impression. Is it fair to say you may have taken us for a well-written bit of a "tongue in cheeky" ride here? 😜
