The people who decided to use the phrase as part of the program wants the base to embrace the term in a way that seems to be mocking others, but it really is intended to make their base comfortable with the term. To make them proud of the label. To embrace that they are, in fact, domestic terrorists.

If what they do - attack the Capitol building, challenge all elections with lies, attempt to gather fake electors, the embrace of white supremacy and theocracy, attacks on women, black and brown people, as well as LGBT people, along with attacks on education, book banning, etc., is domestic terrorism then domestic terrorism is a good thing. The "patriotic" thing to do.
