New York Times: Mr. Biden emerged from medical isolation to a new political world. Suddenly, the administration that could not get anything right, that could not catch a break, was on a roll that any president would relish: Major legislation cruising to passage, at least some economic indicators heading in the right direction, and the worlds most wanted terrorist killed after a two-decade manhunt.
Those early aspirations to being another Franklin D. Roosevelt and Lyndon B. Johnson, the ones that felt like so much hubris in the past few months, are being heard again in the halls of the West Wing and the Capitol. White House aides argue that the string of congressional victories capped by the package of climate, health and tax provisions that finally cleared the Senate over the weekend compares favorably to the two-year legislative record of most any other modern president, even perhaps F.D.R. and L.B.J.

(362 posts)Biden isnt as exciting as Obama, but his Presidency will be remembered for its significant, transformative effects on the United States, with lasting impacts on health care, the environment, infrastructure, and other areas.
Its an impressive series of legislative accomplishments, and whats more amazing is that he was able to pull them off with a razor-thin Senate majority, and even more shockingly - given how rancorous and toxic American politics is - many of them, like his infrastructure bill, enjoyed bipartisan support. I suspect Bidens many years in the Senate have given him skills at consensus-building most of his recent predecessors have lacked.
Add to that his success in getting federal judges nominated, and in navigating with the perils of the Russia-Ukraine conflict, and he may end up being remembered as one of the most important Presidents in a very long time.
Biden wasnt my first choice (if it matters, I supported Elizabeth Warren in the primary), and I have a few quibbles with how hes handled certain policy issues, but in this tumultuous political moment, Im sure glad hes sitting in the White House.

Unfortunately, one party is into theatrics, low-class antics and bullshittery.
