If Trump runs in 2024, how will it not be a disaster for the Republicans?

Does anyone else see the major problem that the Republicans are going to face in 2024? Not from
the American electorate in general but from the Republican Party itself? Let’s say Trump does run for the nomination. It’s extremely unlikely that he will be the only viable candidate. It’s not going to be like 2020 where the field is cleared for him and only a few nobody Republicans who are intentionally hamstrung by the rules will even try. There are going to be some real heavy hitters in the party going up against him and think about how that will play out.

Someone like DeSantis will not just roll over and treat Trump with kid’s gloves. The only way to win the nomination will be to go toe to toe with Trump and that is going to be brutal for all sides in the Republican Primary. They will turn into full blown enemies. Does anyone expect calm civility if Trump actually has to fight to be renominated? Then what? Trump wins with a minority of support after being brutalized by his own party or Trump loses. And guess who’s an extremely sore loser that likely won’t accept the results.

How exactly do the Republicans come out ahead in this scenario where Trump runs in 2024?

The American electorate, in general, is quite hostile to Trump. He’s likely going to be a significant underdog if nominated and if not, he’s likely going to sabotage whoever the Republican nominee is.

DeSantis scares the shit out of me as bad as trump but DeSantis is more “reasonable” seeming to people not paying attention (which is most of the electorate)

Run trump run!

I was gleeful when he started winning primaries in 2016, thinking that his candidacy would destroy the GOP. I want to believe that such a scenario is still possible, but getting burned before was (obviously) super traumatic.

Four years of seeing the former guy actually running the joint. That's how he turned a 2.8 million vote loss in the popular vote into a 7.1 million vote loss. I really, truly don't see anything happening since the 2020 election that would make the former guy reap anything but an even more lop-sided loss if he's the Republican nominee in 2024. His dim-witted fans are as vocal as ever, but not more numerous.

their primaries were pretty brutal (in the sense that there were a lot of childish insults). I saw it with my own eyes because I was ready to give both sides a fair chance at the time. But TFG took it and made it a huge joke and I went democratic and never looked back. It was a primary full of little hands, big hands, manhood size declaration, ugly wife accusations that is beneath even a high school or middle school debate. At the end of the day, they all yield under TFG and united.

I think democrats like to take everything very seriously while republican saw it all as a sport. It was just a game and the insults aren't exactly serious.

is why isn't desatin latching on to this already, and coming out with statements against trump. Trump is right there for the kicking. it's almost like DeSantis will indeed roll over for donny.

In fact desatin even defended him in the marlago raid.

Right now the GOP party line is to use the "raid" as an excuse to attack the Dems.

DeSantis knows who his overlords are.

As you point out.

The GOP elite figured it out and let the J6 committee happen.
And they get to blame the Dems for it.
So win win for them.
