8. That's not how it works.

A witness has a constitutional right under the 5th Amendment to refuse to answer questions that would expose them to criminal incrimination.

The 5th Amendment right against self-incrimination is an important right under the Constitution. However, it is a right under criminal law. A person invokes the 5th Amendment only to avoid being a witness against them self in a criminal context. Trump, quite rightly, invoked the 5th Amendment because he knows, or at least is concerned, that he faces criminal charges.
