(4,435 posts)A Democrat last won statewide in 1964. Lyndon Johnson. Before that, it was FDR in 1936.
But you never know. The satellites from Italy could play a part in November.

(7,263 posts)Just fact checking. I believe you may have meant to refer the last Democratic statewide Presidential race?
Sen McGovern was a rare anti-war progressive, and was the Democratic Candidate for President in 1972 - he got trounced by Nixon; it was in 1972 that the Watergate break-in occurred.
Sen McGovern was smeared by the RNC in 1972 as a weak person; in reality he served his country well in combat in WW2, completing over 25 missions commanding a heavy bomber over Nazi Germany. A very brave man.

(21,753 posts)Thune is also the Senator who advised Americans to "make themselves small" so they don't attract the attention of deranged mass shooters.
Thune is one of those Senators I pray will go down in defeat. He thinks he is in a safe seat and is immune from consequences.

(81,238 posts)I hope the rest of the voters get that, too.
Imagine: ANYBODY spending Americas birthday in the capitol city of her biggest, longest, and most loudly-avowed adversary. This guy who did that is a United States Senator.

Ironically, at the same time, they loudly and frequently claim to worship our Lord Jesus.

(4,986 posts)It's bad in regards to valuable experience, as you've cited.
It's good in regards to getting rid of the deadbeats, like Thune, Rand Paul, Ted Cruz, Marco Rubio, etc., etc.

(35,662 posts)they can rotate around in various types of government jobs. Cabinet positions, department heads, etc.
Example: Liz Cheney, who is probably going to lose her primary today, is not going anywhere. Count on her staying in some type of high profile, political job.
