While the Secret Service downplayed threats posed by right-wing extremist groups and Trumps supporters leading up to January 6, the newly obtained documents reveal just how grave and explicit the threats had actually been.

The National Capital Region Threat Intelligence Consortium (NTIC) disseminated these threats in messages and a conference call on the morning of January 4, providing a clear and prescient warning of the violence to come. NTIC alerted the Secret Service, FBI, Capitol Police and Metropolitan Police Department among other law enforcement groups of on-line communications citing violence in DC on 1-6-21, which included objectives such as Occupying the Capitol to influence lawmakers to change election results, Call to come with guns, Be prepared to battle and Exercise 2nd Amendment rights.

Groups identified as coming with a potential to cause violence included the Oath Keepers, the 3%ers and neo-Nazi groups Atomwaffen and Storm Front. In spite of this warning, the Secret Service noted There is no indication of civil disobedience stemming from the right-wing extremist groups involved in the riot. Upon learning of the Proud Boys intent to arrive in DC on January 6, the Secret Service released an internal memo that disclosed no indication of concerndespite the Proud Boys stating they will turn out in record numbers.

(19,217 posts)as a threat to Trump, they were there to kill members of Congress and Mike Pence.
Let Pence's detail worry about that. Trump's detail could stand down.
The SS is rotten to the core.

(7,048 posts)This whole things smells of the machinations of TPTB for whom the USSS is but a functionary. Thinking they are having some internal squabbles and have yet to agree on the direction of a path forward from the Trump era.

(6,582 posts)They were in on it. They were helping it along. If there had been even a hint of a real threat to trump, he would've been removed from DC or at least sent to the underground bunker.

(50,706 posts)First, there IS a pro-Trump queen who calls herself Lady MAGA. Apparently she went to a Fuentes rally and got booed out of the place. Which
youd expect.
The group in question is MAGA Drag the Interstate. Their activity is primarily forming huge convoys and driving around with Trump flags on their pickups, probably taking up both lanes. But Id believe theyd have a taste for violence if properly enticed.

(11,602 posts)the bandwagon. A more accurate (or relevant) line might have read, "A whole boatload of agencies were aware .." With the SService being nowhere near 'primary' or lead - in either assessment, or prep.
Their 'parent' agency on the other hand ...

(10,497 posts)She was on MSNBC and said that the FBI search at Mar-a-Lago would normally have called for advance notice to Trumps SS detail. Instead, they were given a heads up very close to the FBI arriving. Sounds like the FBI does not trust those agents.
