It's a hell of a lot easier than suing over actual trademark or patent infringement. As far as I can tell, Truth Social copied the entire look and feel of Twitter and then just changed a couple of colors. There was a famous "trade dress" suit recently (Roland vs. Behringer) which came out very badly for the infringer (Behringer).

I'm surprised Twitter hasn't gone after Truth Social yet. Maybe they're just hoping it blows over. It's not very popular even with the MAGA chuds. It didn't help that Truth Social couldn't get their site working properly for months, even after it was revealed that they just stole a bunch of open-source code (Mastodon) and didn't contribute back their changes (violating the terms of the license).
