Will WWIII be started by some large country's leaders to distract their citizens from their suffering and give them a target for their anger?

Nuclear power can.
Burning fossil fuels to desalinate water, even with a solar assist, is insane.
Fossil fuels got us into this mess, they won't get us out of it.
