Most notably the Iraq war and trump, but countless "smaller" things too.

(36,478 posts)I like DUer gab13by13's example.
--> Fox News falsely reports that Obama beats his wife.
--> CNN reports that there is no evidence that Obama beats his wife.
--> MSNBC reports that Obama definitely does not beat his wife.
All three are discussing right-wing talking points, instead of democratic accomplishments. The media will help Trump get elected again, if he runs, count on it.

(10,126 posts)policy of not taxing the wealthy own CNN & MSNBC.
It is in their financial interest to keep the GOP in power.
90+% of the US media is owned by these people.
Democrats have to use social media and other more effective means to reach voters.
If every Democrat flipped one Republican ...

(7,263 posts)A country torn apart by civil unrest and violence IS NOT a GOOD Marketplace.
They know this, and the 1% always try pull their punches to make the ordinary worker feel unthreatened.
However the recent Frankenstein TFG/christofascist movement does not give a shit about the common worker, or profits for anyone but TFG, or any religious morality except to harass, ruin and/or kill ALL non-believers.
I believe the 'mainstream' 1% are trying to have their cake and eat it too, but they have unleashed a power that they cannot possibly control.
They have fucked up big time. The result is TFG, Putin, Ukraine, Brexit, an emergent People's Authoritarian Republic of China, and woke nationalism and hate groups world wide.
The 1% wants to put the genie back in the bottle, but they cannot - the Frankenstein Monster is free and running amok.
Just my opinion for what it's worth.

(10,126 posts)It was on Free Trade.
On one hand, we feared what would happen to the Rust Belt for example and to US manufacturing know how where significant innovation came from the shop floor - that would occur in other countries.
On the other hand, the brains in this Think Tank feared the economic imbalance in the world. Nature had a way to balance extremes over time. They feared the have-nots in the world would rise up and take the wealth if the US did not do more to share it.
The American oligarchs would be wise to fear that. Whether they like it or not, it is nature's way.
What they're up to will not last. People will catch on and get fed up enough to lash out.
The genie in the bottle is controlled by the media which the oligarchs control.
The media made Trump and they can end Trump tomorrow.
That won't end their mistrust, anger, distress, etc they have stirred up.
They'll just misguide it elsewhere.
"Biden's political prosecution of Trump put Trump in jail but DeSantis will pardon Trump if you elect him."
I feel like we are being toyed with.

(7,522 posts)But I'll try. There are literally more than a dozen reporters and pundits at the two channels who prove every day your assertion is wrong. I could a lot of time and provide links and examples, but this post has zero of that so it would be a waste of time.

(15,624 posts)Since it first went on the air- FFS, Tucker Carlson and Mary Matalin used to have shows on MSNBC.
Currently, the only RW enablers at MSNBC Im aware of are Chuck Todd and Andrea Mitchell. The rest of the on air talent call out the Big Lie, and highlight the current risks to Democracy on a regular basis. Medhi Hasan is hardly someone who enables RW narratives.
CNN, on the other hand, is actively courting Republicans; the new CEO has been meeting secretly with Republican lawmakers to find out what changes CNN needs to make in order to get them to appear on the network.
Big difference.
If you cant see the difference between MSNBC and CNN, and between those networks and FOX, Newsmax and OAN, I cant help you.

(115,732 posts)Fox is entirely that; I don't think they even have an actual news program any more. CNN does straight news sometimes, and they're pretty good with events like natural disasters and plane crashes. MSNBC's evening line-up is entirely op-ed programming with a liberal slant, which is fine to the extent that it counteracts Fox - except that the people who watch Fox don't watch MSNBC or vise-versa. So both networks are just preaching to their respective choirs and not converting anybody. MSNBC doesn't make up facts the way Fox does, so at least its bias is fact-based - but it's still op-ed material. There's nothing wrong with that, except that we always have to watch out for the normal human tendency toward confirmation bias, the unconscious desire to believe information that supports whatever you already believe. We need a neutral media, but nobody would watch it because our confirmation bias makes us feel good.
