WTF?
"While canvassing a teacher who was out on his porch stopped me to ask what I was doing. He was concerned & told me to avoid houses with black flags bc that meant they will shoot us. I was like seriously?! How is this American. I warned the other canvass team."

(22,920 posts)The people flying that flag are announcing that, as soon as their Dear Leader gives the word, they're ready to attack everything Trump hates, and that includes us.
I have a couple around me (suburb of Raleigh NC).

(23,105 posts)We walk a lot - every single day - and there are none in our neighborhood. We were in Daytona for a few days and didn't see any there either. Is this a regional thing, hope it is and doesn't spread - how awful!

(6,594 posts)...couple years ago. The house was a rental & they didn't stay long, a few months, thankfully.
And yes, from my understanding it basically means "we don't take prisoners," which means no one taken alive, in other words, shoot everyone dead. Only people they don't like, of course.
That's the only one I've ever seen.

(23,105 posts)I live in the Jax area so hopefully not here, although them being in any part of this country is such bad news.

(115,732 posts)it's protected speech. Brandenburg v. Ohio, 395 U.S. 444 (1969) and Hess v. Indiana, 414 U.S. 105 (1973). Just flying a black flag can mean anything, and there's nothing about it that urges anyone to commit imminent, unlawful violence, nor does it make it likely that it will occur - since it's not explicitly telling anybody to do anything. Arresting someone for flying a black flag is just as wrong as arresting someone for flying a BLM flag.

(22,913 posts)It might be more along the lines of putting them on some kind of "watch list", if things start to heat up people sending signals like that might be subject to increased surveillance of some sort.

(57,073 posts)Who knows how many of those resident's occupants are under some surveillance.
Or how many of those homes are arms warehouses for terrorists?
For me, it goes back to "if you see something, say something."
Campaign workers should not have to put up with this bs.

(115,732 posts)You: "My neighbor is flying a black flag."
FBI: "That's not illegal."
You: "But it could mean they want to incite violence."
FBI: "What does the flag say on it?"
You: "Nothing, it's just black."
FBI: "Have your neighbors made any threats?"
You: "No, but they have a black flag."
FBI: "Why do you think that's inciting violence?"
You: "I read it on the Internet."
FBI: "Oooohkayyy. We'll make a note of it. Have a nice day."

(7,638 posts)I am just pointing out that reporting it isn't illegal. You know like your helpful hint previously. Why you still worrying about it?

(139 posts)When news of the Mar-a-Lago search broke his Let's Go Brandon banner disappeared in favor of a small U.S. flag and a larger black flag went up too. It is not a black U.S. flag. It has diamond shaped stitching. Those are the only distinguishing characteristics I can make out from the street.

And that would be a pretty tough stop sign if those "bullet holes" only left a light mark.

THESE PEOPLE FLYING THE BLACK FLAGS ARE TRAITORS TO THIS REPUBLIC.

(3,234 posts)First off I'd love to know how someone running for office does NOT know the basics of a social justice movement.
That isn't good and stuff like this is exactly how misinformation gets spread quickly.
That is NOT the black flag you're thinking of.
That is an ANTIFA flag! Literally! It's the recognized global symbol of the movement.
It's also a symbol for a legendary punk band. Remember the punk band "Black Flag" with singer Henry Rollins? Ya.
But given this day & age, I'd bet on ANTIFA.
The flag you're thinking of is the black AMERICAN flag.
Which that tweet clearly is not showing a pic of.
This is the flag in question....
