We all know what the Republicans really want from the affidavit...
But what they are saying...
"The Justice Department should "show that this was not just a fishing expedition, that they had due cause to go in and to do this, that they did exhaust all other means," Rounds said. "And if they can't do that, then we've got a serious problem on our hands."
Every point in that passage has been confirmed.
They don't want the affidavit...they just want more propaganda fodder to divert attention from Trump. So, redact the damn thing, blocking names and details pertinent to investigation specifics and let 'em have it. Then wait for the next version of shit to be thrown at the wall,

(7,850 posts)the inside "rat", sources...releasing the names of the FBI agents would be nothing more than a diversion..Trump's home grown rabid lowlife militia would go after the agents and their families, ignoring the contents of the affidavit..the treason..

(86,646 posts)The redacted version be given to the whiners. Redacted. Right now, that's what they are doing, going over it for info that should not be released. There's a due date.

(20 posts)They should have no access to anything until the charges are filed.
Notice how they are attempting to raise the bar by claiming that the justice department needs to show its motives were legitimate. This was done when the judge found probable cause that a crime was committed and evidence of that crime would be found at Mar a largo. This was further verified by the fact that they retrieved from the location the very same items that were being sought.
Further the Trump misdirection team is asserting that the fbi needs to show that they exhausted all other means to obtain the evidence. This is not required by law. Trump is a private citizen and is entitled to the same level of due process all citizens receive if the feds have a warrant or other legal grounds to search they do not need to and in practice rarely give the suspect the opportunity to hide or destroy that evidence by giving anyone notice that they are coming for it.
