illegal 60-Ton Pool on a Brooklyn Roof without permit or professional construction. NYC Says 'NOPE'

https://www.nbcnewyork.com/news/local/illegal-60-ton-pool-found-on-brooklyn-building-roof-ordered-taken-down/3819882/

The New York City Department of Buildings tweeted a photo of an illegal pool that was found on the rooftop of a Williamsburg building. The department said that the 480-square-foot pool, which was not built up to code, had the capacity to hold 60 tons of water.

The building on Flushing Avenue where the pool was found is not equipped to support that kind of weight, the DOB said, hence why it was ordered to be torn down.

The department said the pool was installed without proper permits or professional construction.

Footage from Wednesday afternoon showed the pool still up, but all the water had been drained.

And by late afternoon the water would have been too hot to take a dip anyway.

That amount of weight could easily have collapsed the building.

Looking at the first result of a Google search, California standards (I know this pool is not in CA, I'm just trying to rough this out) for a commercial flat roof and a concentrated load is 300 pounds within an area of 2.5 ft x 2.5 ft, or stated differently, 300 pounds in a 6.25 sq ft area.

If the entire pool is considered to be a concentrated load:

The pool is 480 square feet divided by 6.25 square feet = 76.8 load bearing "sections".

The pool weighs 120,000 pounds.

120,000 pounds divided by 76.8 sections is almost 1,600 pounds of weight in a 2.5ft x 2.5 ft area.

1,600 pounds vs. 300 pounds using CA standards to rough it out.

I'm assuming the 300 pound standard is AFTER taking into account the weight of the building materials itself. Also, I have no idea what the NY standard is. But in any case, just roughing it out like this, this is WAYYYYY over weight.

Edit to add: I know this isn't the right way to calculate this. A concentrated load in a 480 sq ft area is calculated differently than a concentrated load in a 6.25 sq ft area because the weight is concentrated over a larger field. Just trying to get an idea of how bad this is.
