Your chart about tuition increase (a different topic) shows a mild increase in the 80s and it really takes off about 2000 and does not stop. Why is the IL government allowing such an increase at a state school?

Reagan convinced a lot of otherwise at-least-not-stupid people that regression of education is a forward move.

(25,775 posts)I was out of college and working at least 7 years before this happened. .
Since my college had a realatively low tuition fee my parents were able to pay it for me.
So being out of that circle I don't remember it, and I
was certainly somewhat occupied with a lot of other outrages Ronnie Ray-gun was perpetuating.

(40,160 posts)I did manage to go to a 2 year technical school at a nearby college by getting loans and wiping out my savings. I paid the loans off in the 90's.
