(348 posts)In the vast majority of these cases individuals and companies settle. The winner gets a pile of money but only if they let the loser off the hook with "no admission of wrongdoing". That ain't gonna work here. Dominion needs to get a fulsome confession of lying and admitted wrongdoing by Fox and all the various basket of deplorables who piled into the Big Lie clown car.
Their business was severely damaged by these false accusations. It is only by getting the liars to admit to their lies can they ever hope to regain public trust and put their business back together. The big ol'pile of cash is just compensation for the loss of business they have already suffered and damage to their reputation. Personally I expect them to demand repeated on air full blown mea culpas by every single one of the talking heads who slandered them. I mean multiple 10 minute segments of kowtows, foreheads beat on the ground, tears of sorrow, promises to never do it again, the C Suites purged of anyone who egged on this mess and all of them begging for forgiveness. Only then should they leave Fox and others enough money to barely stay in business.

(65,228 posts)Having been an expert witness in 6 trials. I can say that depositions are more tedious & exhausting than testifying on the stand.
Given these circumstances (their on air statements are inherent to the suit) I can see that being an uncomfortable 8 to 16 hours.
