If you're taken into custody, you don't have to be 'turned in' afterwards.

I would imagine the situation will be that IQ45 will be sitting in a courtroom when he's remanded to custody, and the SS won't interfere with that process after his conviction on serious federal charges.

I don't see him ever being in any sort of physical custody until such time as a verdict is handed down.

If Trump were to be indicted, would his Secret Service detail be bound (ie. Required in terms of carrying out their duty) to take him into custody.

The real question is whether they would continue to guard hi in custody. My guess is yes, and that he would never look out from behind bars until he was convicted, and possibly not even then.

It's a very grey area. Congress could act to remove his protection, but that is unlikely.

The question is, if he decided to flee the country, would he be able to shake his detail. Or would his detail help him? I would presume that if they helped him, he would have to take them with him.

There was an article I read a while back that said that was the plan if Nixon had been convicted and sentenced.

There’s pretty much zero chance he’d be sitting in a regular prison. Regular underpaid prison guards would be highly susceptible to bribery to try to get classified info out of him.

I've been there. Very nice accommodations, and absolutely no internet access or phones available to the guests.

Lawyers come and go, but no leaks occur.

I could imagine they'd retrofit a barrack or something for housing.

It would be unsustainable. Same problem with jailing Michael jackson, only much, much worse.

Hell-They wouldn't even be able to handle the visiting "lawyers" or the press. Prisons just aren't set up for that kind of constant access.

IF a detachment of FBI officers showed up at the gates of MAL with a warrant in hand...

The SS would literally lead them to Trump.

and that alone. They do not work for Trump. They work to protect the man from outside threats.

If there is a federal arrest warrant for him, they will assist those federal LEOs assigned to arrest him in doing so. They work for the Secret Service, not for Trump.
