Asha Rangappa made an interesting comment a couple of days ago.

Joe Biden's speech tonight caused me to recall it.

She was on one of the political shows and they were discussing autocracies and how they take root, etc. She commented that the best way to defeat them was usually with "coalitions".

I think that may have been the direction that Joe Biden was going tonight? The Democrats, Independents, and "mainstream" Republicans need to form a "coalition" in order to save our democracy.

But, is it possible?

Our democracy is under threat and so are we all.

I have never thought of her as a right-winger or left-winger - she's just a logical thinking person.

I heard what you heard. There are more of us than there are of them…and that might mean the narrowest of commonality between Dems, Indies, Mainstream repubs…it might take all of us to defeat MAGA.

I’m here for it.

It's a bigger battle than "normal" politics. We can go back to scratching and fighting after we defeat the fascists. That should be all of America's goal at this time, in my opinion. I don't know if Democrats can defeat them alone. I doubt it.

I’m not at all sure we can defeat them alone. It felt as if President Biden was telling us that. There is real darkness at the door…and while we’ve been having some good days lately with the Maga-Lardo thing…there’s real trouble brewing. A federal indictment isn’t going to make it all better.

There are but two parties now, Patriots and Traitors. Once treason is broken, the usual intramural struggles among the Patriots may resume.

As a reaction after the fact - rather than as a preventive effort.

Such is human nature, it seems - so much of which plays right into fascist hands as it is.

Yes, the coalition of like-minded voters is and has been happening/growing in a pushback against the carpetbagger Oz and off-the-charts extremist Mastriano. Both these Republican nominees have inspired Dems, Indies and Republicans to come together, speak out and form alliances against extreme, authoritarian and opportunistic elements in the GOP including in our state & local races.

The winds have turned. The positive reaction to President Biden's speech last night by a majority of Americans is telling. Democracy is on the ballot. As for the squealing in the background, the lone heckler on site?

Trumpers are losing the moment and they know it.

Time to push all the harder, give it everything we've got because everything we have, everything we aspire to is on the line in November.

We can do this!

If both Democrats and Republicans are able to switch Parties to vote against the fascist extremists, then that is a good thing, in my opinion.

Yesterday the Philadelphia Inquirer reported a half-dozen more Republican leaders from around the state voicing their support for Josh Shapiro. Mastriano's photo in Confederate uniform, at the War College no less, was a step too far. As for Oz? He's come out and publicly stated that all abortion from conception on is . . . murder.

Which means, of course, all women who have had or desire an abortion are murderers.

The extremists are hanging themselves by their own words and actions. Voters of all stripes are catching on in large numbers.
